On Wikipedia
I'm a WikiGnome hailing from Newcastle upon Tyne, England. I don't tend to write articles, do DYKs, produce FAs and GAs, but I do my best to fix up article formatting, spelling, grammar, and do general copyediting. I have rollback to aid me in my fight against vandalism - it was granted to me by Luna Santin on my second day due to exceptional circumstances, and my demonstrated want to use Huggle. I also perform non-admin closures at AFD, and my list of closed discussions can be found here. I am also a member of the CVU, armed with Huggle, Twinkle, Lupin's anti-vandal tool, and a dab of common sense.
I am a regular at #wikipedia on freenode under the same username as here. I often enjoy talking about music, politics, ethics, laws, copyright, and being a cat with Ceiling_Cat and the gang.
My view on adminship is that if a user is demonstrably not a vandal, knows what they are doing, at least in general, and you trust them or have no reason not to trust them, you should support them by default. Contrary to popular belief, we do not have too many admins, there is not an imposed limit on how many there will or should be, and in the majority of cases more administrators equals less disruption. Recent times have seen dwindling numbers of RfA applicants, and we as a community should welcome people who request adminship with open arms. When reviewing whether to support or oppose !vote on an RfA, remember that all you are really asking is whether you trust them with three buttons. Three simple buttons. It is obvious that administrators open to recall is dying a death, and has been since its inception. But we do not need a new system - in cases where administrators have abused their powers, their sysop rights have often been removed. All you are really asking yourself at an RfA is - do I trust this person to be both a spokesperson for the community en masse, and also, do I trust them to perform normal administrator 'duties' like blocking? If the answer is yes, then go on and support - what is the worst that could happen?
I also maintain a mistakes page. I can imagine that some editors may question the usefulness of such a page, but I guess it is an attempt to quickly show the community that whilst I try my best, I am still human, and I still make mistakes. These mistakes should be reported - if I have made a mistake, report it on my talk page, and I will get on rectifying it and adding it to the mistakes page. For obvious reasons, don't add entries to the mistakes page yourself.
