Wrong name. Please change
editAccording to the following link, Yang Xinhai was just an alias. The title should be changed. http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/en/doc/2003-11/18/content_282569.htm —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 58.104.66.1 (talk) 12:23, 17 April 2007 (UTC).
- I also found a source that says Yang Zhiya is an alias for Yang Xinhai (http://www.accessmylibrary.com/coms2/summary_0286-19450316_ITM) and another that says his real name is Wang Ganggang (http://www.rotten.com/library/bio/crime/serial-killers/yang-zhiya/). His real name needs to be verified by multiple, reputable sources before the article is changed, page moved, etc. For now I will add his other aliases to the article. --*momoricks* (talk) 09:02, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, I found three more articles from reputable news sources (Taipei Times, Al Jazeera and ABC News) identifying him as Wang Ganggang. I will change his name in the article, noting aliases and sources, of course. --*momoricks* (talk) 09:45, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
Merge completed
editI merged Yang Zhiya into this article because they were about the same person regardless of his real name, which, from what I'm finding, may be difficult or impossible to determine. --*momoricks* (talk) 09:12, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
Major rewrite
editI did a major overhaul on this article, removing his birth place and date because I couldn't find any sources verifying that information. Without a book or other extensive information about his life and crimes, I don't think this can be expanded much more. --*momoricks* (talk) 01:09, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
Responses
editI deleted that two photos.
Because those photos are related with another Chinese series killer Huang Yong. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huang_Yong Those photos are not related with Yang Xinhai. You can just google "Yang Xinhai", the middle age man in black was him. the young man in yellow was "Huang Yong".
You also can check Yang Xinhai | Murderpedia, the encyclopedia of murderers, and Huang Yong | Murderpedia, the encyclopedia of murderers.
And to the person who said "Yang Xinhai was just an alias."
No, Yang Xinhai was his real name. ref: https://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/杨新海
And about "Wang Ganggang".
These was no such series killer called "Wang Ganggang" in china at all. Forget Taiwanese - "Taipei Times", they are jokes. In taiwanese map, mongolia is a part of their "greater" country. lol. Because they were slaves in Mongolia Empire. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jajahada (talk • contribs)
- A couple of notes:
- Please sign your posts.
- This talk page is about Yang Xinhai, not about Cross-Strait Relations. Disagreeing with the Taipei Times' editorial stance does not make it a disreputable source.
- Your own source, Murderpedia, uses the name Wong Ganggang to refer to Mr. Yang. Paris1127 (talk) 21:48, 12 August 2014 (UTC)
Wang Ganggang — who has served time in prison and labour camps for robbery and rape — would be China’s most prolific serial killer. He is said to have murdered mostly farmers. He used several aliases, including Yang Zhiya.
“His girlfriend broke up with him and as a result, Yang Zhiya developed a vengeful attitude towards society and committed the crimes in Henan, Anhui, and Shandong,” one official report said. He was “extremely cruel” in his methods, usually leaving no one alive to bear witness to his crime.
This is so wrong, he did not have a girl friend at all.
The best ref is here. ref: https://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/杨新海
and you can just google "杨新海", his photos (in balck) will display on the screen. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 101.103.148.121 (talk)

last comment, BBC and ABC are not the best sources. https://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/杨新海 (in chinese) is the best. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 101.103.148.121 (talk) 13:08, 30 September 2014 (UTC)
