– Per request. See talk page. I am neither supporting nor opposing this request. Apteva (talk) 02:29, 6 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose the renaming of this article because the Vienna orchestra uses the name ‘Vienna Philharmonic’ on the English pages of its website, see [1]. --Kleinzach 02:25, 3 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
    • Your "Oppose" is not valid because Ausatrian-English cannot be English. Ausatrian-English is just Ausatrian-English, not English. In English "Philharmonic" doesn't equals to "Symphony Orchestra". And, for example, the curreent title ‘Vienna Philharmonic’ can be the abbreviation of ‘Vienna Philharmonic Nazi’. And what is important is that current titles like ‘Vienna Philharmonic’ are the evidences of nazism of Germans and Austrarians, unfortunately. In addition, Wiener Philharmoniker have been introducing themselves in their website in Japanese "ウィーン・フィルハーモニー管弦楽団" that means "Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra" in English( ja:ウィーン = Vienna, ja:フィルハーモニー = Philharmony, ja:管弦楽団 = Orchestra ).[2] Apparently they have mistaken as if their (potatoey) Austrian-English can be decent official English. Therefore, first of all, before you oppose, you should explain what English name is shortened to ‘Vienna Philharmonic’. I think it might not be ‘Vienna Philharmonic Natism’. -- NeedsLove (talk) 22:34, 6 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
      • NeedsLove, please keep your remarks to the issue, and don't criticise the variety of English another editor uses, particularly when your own "English" is sagging under the weight of its own errors. -- Jack of Oz [Talk] 22:49, 6 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose as there is no valid rationale for this move. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 06:05, 3 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
    • Your "Oppose" is not valid, too, because there is no rational reasons for holding the current article title that is requested to rename for obviously valid reasons. As mentioned above, first of all, before you oppose, you should explain what English name is shortened to ‘Vienna Philharmonic’. I think it might not be ‘Vienna Philharmonic Neo-Natism’. -- NeedsLove (talk) 22:34, 6 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Support "Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra(VPO)". Becauase, in spite of their propaganda ‘Vienna Philharmonic’ having been made in English Wikipedia and their website, it is evident that "Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra(VPO)" is the most useful and helpful English name for Wiener Philharmoniker.[3][4] -- NeedsLove (talk) 22:34, 6 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Support Article titles should always be nouns. As 'philharmonic' is an adjective, we would need to append 'Orchestra' to comply with the policy on nomenclature. -- Ohconfucius ping / poke 01:56, 7 May 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose the renaming of this article. I believe that we should keep the current title, "Vienna Philharmonic", given that this is what the orchestra calls itself in English and also what almost all English-language writers call it. Re the argument that it should be renamed because the word "philharmonic" is said to be an adjective and not a noun - "philharmonic" is listed in major dictionaries as a noun as well as an adjective. E.g., Merriam-Webster: http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/philharmonic Brozhnik (talk) 02:26, 7 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Since the move at Berlin has been rejected, and Philharmonic is now a noun... Rothorpe (talk) 19:27, 12 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Shouldn't he be mentioned somewhere in the article? As I understand it, he played in the orchestra, served as manager, promoted von Karajan and hired Furtwangler. Pkeets (talk) 11:18, 1 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

With the relevant sources, why not inded? -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 12:13, 1 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
