edit"Transverse section" is redirected to "transverse plane". Although "transverse plane" may be almost exclusively a medical term (besides gears), "transverse section" is used both within medicine and in other non-medical applications such as engineering and architecture. For example, see

- 137.111.13.4 a "transverse section" is a section taken along a transverse plane. I agree that this article is medically biased.
