Proposed merge of Aero Express into this article

edit

The Aero Express page doesn't cite any references, possibly because most of the information comes from one single source: the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport website. The notability of the article is also in question. The information from Aero Express would be relevant for incorporation into this article, for example as a subsection under Connectivity. Jusses2 (talk) 18:27, 13 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

I support the merge. The Aero Express article is not notable to stand alone. HotshotCleaner (talk) 04:15, 29 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
I support the merge as well. It isn't notable on its own and is just there really promoting the services. It would be be much better suited as only being a part of the International Airport. Dreambeaver (talk) 05:31, 12 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Air India to Chicago direct flight

edit

Recently, IPs continue to add ORD as a destination from here. However, a hidden comment was made not to add it because the flight required a change of aircraft from an Airbus A319 to a Boeing 777 at the airline's primary hub at DEL. However, by looking at Air India's online timetables, the flight recently is using a Boeing 777 on both segments (HYD-DEL and DEL-ORD) but a couple months ago, it wasn't the same plane. I would uggest to leave it ORD out because the aircraft on one of the segments may change again. Comments would be appreciated! Regards! Snoozlepet (talk) 18:34, 30 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

The fact that there is a direct flight from HYD to ORD is technically correct. Change of aircraft does not entail a different reservation. The Airline allows the reservation as a direct flight pursuant to the primary schedule and the airline's operation model. Change of equipment does not vitiate the fact that the flight is not a direct one. hwork21 (talk)

It doesn't matter if the airline sells the ticket as a direct flight or even if multiple sectors carry the same flight number. As long as there is a change of equipment, it shall not be listed as a direct flight. A direct flight is one which does not require passengers to disembark from the aircraft during a stopover at a hub.  LeoFrank  Talk 15:40, 4 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

The page includes accolades but important incidents are not mentioned. Noted passengers with artificial limbs were harassed by security officials here. Sudha Chandran and Satendra Singh (doctor) both were humiliated and on laters complaint Disability court served notices to DGCA and BCAS to ensure disabled passengers are not harassed. Article needs to be balanced since it involve important news of dignified transportation.

GA review (see here for what the criteria are, and here for what they are not)

Overall, the article generally meets the GA criteria, although I am not passing this nomination until the issue with the "Ownership", "Runways", "Terminal", and "Expansion" sections of this article be expanded to meet criterions 1b and 3b.

  1. It is reasonably well written.
a (prose, spelling, and grammar):   b (MoS for lead, layout, word choice, fiction, and lists):
The "Ownership", "Runways", "Terminal", and "Expansion" sections of the article should be expanded to meet criterion 1b.
  2. It is factually accurate and verifiable.
a (reference section):   b (citations to reliable sources):   c (OR):   d (copyvio and plagiarism):
  3. It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects):   b (focused):
As I mentioned in criterion 1b, the "Ownership", "Runways", "Terminal", and "Expansion" are not focused enough on the topic to meet criterion 3b.
  4. It follows the neutral point of view policy.
    Fair representation without bias:
  5. It is stable.
    No edit wars, etc.:
  6. It is illustrated by images and other media, where possible and appropriate.
a (images are tagged and non-free content have fair use rationales):   b (appropriate use with suitable captions):
  7. Overall:
    Pass/Fail:

Status:   Done: This article now meets the good article criteria and has been promoted.

@Music1201: Hi thanks for picking this up. I retitled the "Runway" section as "Airfield" to encompass more info. I also expanded on the "Terminal" section. I added more info to the "Expansion" section and moved it to the bottom of the article under the title "Future plans", in line with WP:AIRPORT-CONTENT. However I'm not sure how to expand on the "Ownership" section. The basics are contained in that section, while the history is located in the third paragraph of the "History" section. - ✈Sunnya343✈ (talk) 22:50, 2 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

@Sunnya343: After looking at the expanded sections, I'm glad to say this article meets the good article criteria. Thanks for expanding. Music1201 talk 02:33, 4 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Regarding the Future Plans

edit

This is just a heads up regarding the expansion plan. As far as the final phase is concerned or the master plan as they like to call, that seems to have been junked a few years ago. GMR removed all that content details from their website hyderabad.aero and now have only a mention in a single sentence. That link that makes a citation to the master plan section is also dead.

Apart from that, I noticed a new artistic impression of the second phase being stuck on the banners at the airport, with cosmetic changes and additions to the terminal building. The airport management is not divulging the details of the expansion plan sufficiently in the media, but I am sure there is a plan well chalked out. Anyone in the editors here who knows the people who handle the press conferences for GMR?

Also, regarding the second phase, it needs to be better updated. It still shows 2016 as future. hwork21 (talk)

Air bubble flight?

edit

@LeoFrank: Do you have any source which explicitly confirms that the Chicago–Hyderabad AI route is an air bubble flight? If you read the official responses in this source, it does seem like a round-the-year service. -- Ab207 (talk) 12:26, 18 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Rzxz0839 and LeoFrank:, please feel free to join in. Do you any sources to back your claims, or is it just WP:ORIGINALRESEARCH? -- Ab207 (talk) 05:13, 21 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
Ab207, The source does not even remotely claim the service is year around. I'm sorry, but WP:OR applies to your claim. There is a clear mention of VBM in the source.  LeoFrank  Talk 05:51, 21 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
While there are talks of extending BLR–SFO to year around (no mention of HYD–ORD though), there is no firm start date on the same. Which is why even BLR–SFO gets removed if added. We just can't keep going with all the hype these two routes have been getting since they are right now the only non-stop flights from both the cities to the US.  LeoFrank  Talk 05:53, 21 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
LeoFrank, Thanks for clarifiyng. The Indian consulate in Chicago claimed that claimed that AI has now 8 flights per week to India from Chicago, which me think otherwise. Since there are continious edits, I thought its better to seek clarification on talk page. Anyway, cheers! -- Ab207 (talk) 06:14, 21 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
Ab207, 8 flights yes. 6 are from DEL and the remaining 2 are from HYD. In fact for both BLR to SFO and HYD to ORD, two flights each from the existing DEL to SFO and DEL to ORD were moved to BLR and HYD respectively. This is the reason you would have seen the inaugural flight from both the cities started from the US instead of the city itself. The aircraft was flown from DEL to the US, returned to BLR and HYD on the respective days, went back to the US. But for ORD alone, AI has recently added an additional frequency on a 6th day. HYD–ORD will be operated between Jan and March 2021, and BLR–SFO will be operated between Jan and Oct 2021. Post these dates, DEL will go back to daily.  LeoFrank  Talk 06:27, 21 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
LeoFrank, thanks for the insight, I'm satisfied with your argument. -- Ab207 (talk) 06:39, 21 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

All users have confirmed that these are NOT air bubble flights as per sources, please leave them be and not to edit war!!!!!!!! Rzxz0839 (talk) 15:18, 13 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Information is removed

edit

Hi Team, I noticed that some of valid information is removed. for example Hyderabad to Gondia, it's active and available in schedule. if it's going end soon, you may add date when it ends. I verified in Google Flights. It's still active. Somebody please validate with sources available and add/correct the information. thank you. Vardhan1110 (talk) 06:22, 7 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

The reason cited seems from personal twitter account. but so many schedules were removed, another example. Tiruvananthapuram from Air India Express removed. but schedule is still active. Vardhan1110 (talk) 06:29, 7 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
