Some thoughts
editSome thoughts on how to improve the article in response to the request from User:FreeKnowledgeCreator:
- " work about Marxism" - I think that book would be more precise than work. Midnightblueowl (talk) 22:12, 14 May 2017 (UTC)
- "the political philosopher" - probably worth specifying that he was Polish here. Midnightblueowl (talk) 22:12, 14 May 2017 (UTC)
- "to be a "handbook" on Marxism. Despite his critical stand toward Marxism" - maybe avoid the repetition of "Marxism", by using "Marxist theory" or something in place of one of the instances. Midnightblueowl (talk) 22:12, 14 May 2017 (UTC)
- "historical materialism" might warrant a link. Midnightblueowl (talk) 22:12, 14 May 2017 (UTC)
- "Great Britain" - perhaps United Kingdom? Midnightblueowl (talk) 22:16, 14 May 2017 (UTC)
- Why link to Poland in "Background and publishing history"? Usually Wikipedia avoids adding links to the names of countries. Midnightblueowl (talk) 22:16, 14 May 2017 (UTC)
- "at a time when it was impossible to publish the work in Poland." - Make sure that you give an explanation of why this was, particularly as many readers may not be familiar with Polish history. Midnightblueowl (talk) 22:16, 14 May 2017 (UTC)
- The only citation in the "Background and publishing history" is at the end of the paragraph. Make sure that every separate statement has a citation after it, otherwise readers may think that only the final sentence actually is cited. Midnightblueowl (talk) 22:16, 14 May 2017 (UTC)
- "by author Michael Harrington" - can we get something more specific than "author"? Midnightblueowl (talk) 22:17, 14 May 2017 (UTC)
- We need a link to Mao Zedong when he is first mentioned. Midnightblueowl (talk) 22:18, 14 May 2017 (UTC)
- It's definitely worth adding some more images. At the moment there is a lot of text and very little to visually break that up. We should have plenty of free-to-use images of long-dead Marxists that could be used in this article. Midnightblueowl (talk) 22:19, 14 May 2017 (UTC)
- It would be good if we had greater information on Kołakowski himself; a little bit of biographical information, that sort of thing. Midnightblueowl (talk) 22:20, 14 May 2017 (UTC)
- None of the footnotes are linking to their entry in the bibliography. Midnightblueowl (talk) 22:22, 14 May 2017 (UTC)
- Thank you, Midnightblueowl, I'll take all of that into account. Most of these issues can be addressed quite easily. Getting the formatting right can be surprisingly difficult, as I learned during the GAN process at The Homosexual Matrix. FreeKnowledgeCreator (talk) 22:29, 14 May 2017 (UTC)
Notability of the reviewers
editSome of the reviewers don't have their pages here. Probably they deserve them. If not - meybe their reviews are overrepresented?Xx236 (talk) 07:10, 16 May 2017 (UTC)
- No, we should be representing all reviews that appeared in reliable sources, to write a properly comprehensive article. It doesn't matter whether the reviewers are notable enough to merit Wikipedia articles or not. FreeKnowledgeCreator (talk) 07:14, 16 May 2017 (UTC)
- Some of the reviewers don't have their pages here. Probably they deserve them. - No?
- All reviews? You apparently quote only English langaue ones, so far from all.
- Who is M. W. Jackson? Probably Michael Jackson [1].

- The reviews I've quoted reflect the sources at my disposal. I have access to EBSCO, an academic data base. It does not cover absolutely everything. FreeKnowledgeCreator (talk) 07:19, 16 May 2017 (UTC)
- https://www.academia.edu/425793/Turning_Marx_on_His_Head_Kolakowskis_Main_Currents_of_Marxism - a published review, I don't know if it deserves to be quoted. Romanian POV.Xx236 (talk) 08:01, 16 May 2017 (UTC)

German
edit- Thank you. I don't personally read German so you would have to ask someone else for help here - or add it yourself if you know German. FreeKnowledgeCreator (talk) 07:49, 16 May 2017 (UTC)

Would you plase be more precize in the future?
edit- First unsourced, later undue. It was rather obvious that after your unsourced I would quote my source. Please respect my time.
- My source was an opinion about the book, so it should be moved but not removed.
- Please discuss subjects on the Talk page, according to Wikipedia rules, rather than informing me about your decisions.Xx236 (talk) 09:56, 17 May 2017 (UTC)
- I see no reason to consider this an important detail. It's not one of the main facts about the book's publication history. You're quite right, by the way, that I should have stated at the outset that this point was both unimportant as well as uncited. FreeKnowledgeCreator (talk) 10:00, 17 May 2017 (UTC)
