I just added 3 entries and came upon this page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_NCAA_Division_I_basketball_arenas There seems to be overlaps and redundancies. Maybe these pages should be reorganized/merged/linked somehow? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Patshih (talkcontribs) 03:39, 12 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Propose reorganize page

edit

I agree with the above comment from 2016 noting the redundancy of this page and the Division 1 basketball arenas page. Additionally there is a similar list of NBA arenas https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_NBA_arenas. Both of those pages look quite clean and up to date, whereas this page is not. In addition to the redundancy, there are lots of issues here: many inconsistencies and omissions, sometimes a nickname is given sometimes not, sometimes a state is given sometimes not, sometimes the women's team is listed sometimes not, and many many non-US arenas are missing. The year it opened should be given in the table, as on the other pages. I would propose simplifying this by renaming it "List of professional basketball arenas", then include all arenas used by any pro league, to include all the major ones: NBA, Euro League, China, Australia, etc. I would keep the current limit of only those of capacity greater than 5,000. Not listing the US college arenas would immediately eliminate many of the inconsistency issues on this page. NameNotUsed20 (talk) 05:35, 13 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Reorganizing page

edit

Per my comment of 13 Sept 2024 I am going to eliminate all the NCAA arenas since they are out of date and duplicated by another Wikipedia list. I propose to change this page to reflect only basketball arenas used by professional teams. Also intend to add date opened to the table, as that is also on the NCAA page, for consistency. — Preceding unsigned comment added by NameNotUsed20 (talkcontribs) 05:49, 26 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
