Rodeo Stage Show

edit

I added mention of this partly from my memory of his appearing in the 70s at the Central Washington Fair in Yakima. Even found and added a link to memories of someone who performed at times as part of the backup band. - 65.211.194.176 (talk · contribs) 22:30, 19 February 2007

Discography?

edit

Shouldn't there be some brief section for his music? --108.16.135.70 (talk) 08:42, 26 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

I found out this morning that there is a difference between country music and country western music. Does anybody have any information on what style he did or if it was a mix? --Nosehair2200 (talk) 01:20, 8 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

JUST might mention that the Gates family did not live above the jail, they lived under the jail, since the jail was the top floor. 2nd floor. I could also furnish you with some pictures to verify this. if you are interested. I also have high school pictures which you do not have for Curtis Wain Gates. 75.163.137.190 (talk) 00:31, 11 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

His last years

edit

I am quite sure he lived in Fresno California just before he died... not in Clovis. He lived across the street from my employer who told us that his wife ask if it was OK to let their horses graze on my employers land for awhile longer and that was only a few days after Ken died. His small ranch was in Fresno believe me it was a yellow house with a few cowboy things out front. I remember an old wagon wheel for decoration and that type of thing but only just a few. They made a TV commercial for the Clovis Festival "ClovisFest" about a year before he died and Ken ask permission to use my employers ranch as the background, I remember the commercial running on TV. I've been out there several times and I know what I'm talking about it was east of Clovis Ave. and as far south as Belmont in Fresno not too far from where I still live... Clovis city limits are way too far north.

About the statue I'm thinking that building that is now Educational Employees Credit Union was originally Clovis Community Bank... and that was when the statue was first put there in the early or mid 1980s. Also as best my memory serves me the original statue was stolen or vandalized and when they wanted to repair or replace it his wife told them to just let it go (don’t do it) I don't think he liked it but I may be wrong on some points here.

It's been many years now but also I think we were told he died at home in bed he just didn't wake-up in the morning... RIP Ken.

Ken Curtis Festus statue

edit

The city of Clovis, California has a statue of Festus (Ken Curtis) on Polasky Avenue in the district they refer to as "Oldtown Clovis."

It has been on display there for many years. 2600:1700:8460:4EB0:6801:2757:1030:B6BD (talk) 04:25, 29 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
