Page move

edit

Does anyone else take issue with the recent page move from Indonesian mass killings of 1965–66 to 1965–66 Indonesian mass killings, with the justification being the year (or years in this case) should come first? I think the previous version was preferable. Not all pages put the year first, with examples being Soviet famine of 1932–1933 and Kazakh famine of 1931–1933.--C.J. I'm not particularly happy with it. Surely the place where the killings happened is more important than the year? The original title distinguishes the events from mass killings in other places - this is more informative than the new title, which seems to be trying to distinguish the events from other mass killings in Indonesia. It's not a great change as the comments above note. And, the fact that "Indonesian killings of 1965-66" has remained in place since the page was created back in 2008 suggests we got something right.Next step? Do we wait 24 hours for a killer counter argument before rolling it back? --Merbabu (talk) 21:29, 30 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
I say roll it back asap, as there was no consensus for such a move in the first place.--C.J. Griffin (talk) 22:31, 30 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
In my opinion it is OK in either order, but if there isn't an easy consensus it shouldn't be moved without any discussion. Dan Carkner (talk) 02:01, 31 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Image/fair use

edit

Would an actual image from the purges be permissable under the fair use policy? Admittedly there aren't that many such images readily available but I feel it would fill a role that isn't really filled just by using a photo of some Suhartoist propaganda pamphlets as the main image illustrating these events. Crimes against humanity category removal

edit

Crimes against humanity is a specific legal concept. In order to be included in the category, the event (s) must have been prosecuted as a crime against humanity, or at a bare minimum be described as such by most reliable sources. Most of the articles that were formerly in this category did not mention crimes against humanity at all, and the inclusion of the category was purely original research.
