Paragraph three should say FOUR (rather than three) pieces of bipartisan legislation and include the Civil Rights Act of 1991

That is a major bipartisan piece of legislation that should certainly be mentioned at the head of the article 66.117.143.199 (talk) 09:07, 29 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Not done for now: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{edit semi-protected}} template. The wording in the lede says "championed and signed". While he certainly signed the Civil Rights Act of 1991, he vetoed the similar Civil Rights Act of 1990, so I don't think I would describe him as "championing" the 1991 version he signed. If we were to remove "championed" from the lede, then I think listing the Act of 1991 with the other 3 make sense. However, not sure if doing so would be an improvement as seeing which pieces he did champion is interesting information as well Cannolis (talk) 17:54, 29 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

In this edit, the nonsensical "|last2=Writer|first2=Staff" was added to a reference -- please remove it. Also, the template should really be "cite news" with periodical= instead of website=. 66.44.21.145 (talk) 14:52, 31 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, ARandomName123. For anyone watching, this is part of a big checking and cleanup job, for which more volunteers would always be appreciated. XOR'easter (talk) 23:20, 31 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

there is no mention of ghwb groping women and apologising for it

edit

https://time.com/5019182/george-hw-bush-groping-allegation/

ghwb had been accused of groping women in public. granted, i believe dementia was largely to blame but this is still too important to exclude from the article NotQualified (talk) 22:54, 5 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

put the fact that he was the head of the secret service in the first line as was done with Putin. False flag 911 (talk) 13:25, 15 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Not done Putin was a long time career KGB agent, While Bush was head of CIA as a political appointee for but a small part of his broader political career. Drdpw (talk) 15:38, 15 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

George Herbert Walker Bush was born on June 12, 1924, in Milton, Massachusetts.[1] He was the second son of Prescott Bush and Dorothy (Walker) Bush,[2] and a younger brother of Prescott Bush Jr..

This edited version above requests fixes to the hyperlink for Prescott Bush Jr. The original routes the reader to an obscure election in Connecticut which Prescott Bush withdrew from and has no other connection to, besides the single mention. This edit instead aims to route the reader to the main article for the Bush family, directly to Prescott Bush Jr., bypassing the step of being directed to the election that has a singular reference to him. This just aims to make it simpler for the reader, and have an easier flow of research rather than being sent to the local election in Connecticut. George Bush

edit

During his time in office, he was only known as George Bush, the common use of the middle initials have only been added later to distinguish him from his son who also became president. I think this should be noted in the first or second sentence of the article. 2A00:801:70E:DC0D:0:0:665F:E019 (talk) 17:57, 10 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

It's already noted, see § cite note-2. ‑‑Neveselbert (talk · contribs · email) 18:27, 10 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
No, it isn't – not in the running text. A note is not sufficient, IMHO. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 37.247.31.205 (talk) 15:04, 12 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
So what do you propose? ‑‑Neveselbert (talk · contribs · email) 17:46, 12 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
A sentence in the first paragraph saying that during his time in office, he was known simply as George Bush. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 37.247.31.205 (talk) 21:31, 29 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
I think the first sentence could be "George Herbert Walker Bush (June 12, 1924 – November 30, 2018), known during his time in office as George Bush, was an American politician, diplomat, and businessman who served as the 41st president of the United States from 1989 to 1993". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 37.247.31.205 (talk) 21:34, 29 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
