editHere are a couple sources if anyone can access the hard copies: http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1P2-2689993.html and http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1G1-60421364.html ChildofMidnight (talk) 03:02, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
Almonds
editAre not these cakes normally topped with almonds? The ones I have seen on sale in supermarkets normally are. ACEOREVIVED (talk) 15:29, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
Recipe
editI have found this recipe on the Internet:
http://www.scottishrecipes.co.uk/dundeecake.htm

It would be good if information from websites such as this one could be added to the article, because, at present, the article lacks much content - alas, I am not an expert on the Dundee Cake, so I do not really have enough information at hand to take the article beyond stub status. Source for the section on the cake's history
editBefore any one claims that the assertion I just entered about the cake been originally produced by the marmalade company called Keillers is unsourced, I shall let people know where I found that claim:

This website, which seems quite informative about the Dundee Cake:
http://www.scottishrecipes.co.uk/dundeecake.htm
also attributes the origins of the cake to Keiller's_marmalade, noting how they put almonds on top of a fruit cake. ACEOREVIVED (talk) 22:15, 8 November 2011 (UTC)
Well, this source:
http://www.cakebaker.co.uk/classicscottishcakes.html
says that the cake was actually made in Scotland for centuries, but just says that it was Keiller's who first made it commercially available (I think that this website is also claiming that they were the first people to call the cake "Dundee Cake"). ACEOREVIVED (talk) 22:23, 8 November 2011 (UTC)
Help please
editHelp please! Can some more au fait than me with online referencing than me sort out the inline citation? The inline "3" should take one to the Scottish cake recipe website. Many thanks, ACEOREVIVED (talk) 09:05, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
- Take a look now. More sources other than recipes are still needed. Geoff Who, me? 18:39, 19 November 2011 (UTC)
photo
editThis article is still in need of a decent photo. I deleted the previous flickr-sourced one which wasn't of Dundee cake at all (just a cake someone ate in Dundee!) but now we have another seemingly auto-sourced flickr image which although it is indeed a Dundee cake you'd hardly know it as it's been turned into a birthday cake and drowned in icing, rendering the all-important almonds almost invisible. Samatarou (talk) 23:12, 10 February 2013 (UTC)
- I've decided to remove the pic as really it's no help as you'd have to already know what a dundee cake looked like to tell that there's one hiding somewhere under all that icing! Samatarou (talk) 06:51, 3 March 2013 (UTC)
Inconsistency in timing? Maybe?
editA reader (ticket:2016121710013394) observed that the second paragraph mentions an origin and "19th-century Scotland", but then goes on to recount a story about Mary Queen of Scots who lived in the 16th century. It may be that the second reference is about a predecessor cake but the wording refers to "the cake" so if it is not referring to Dundee cake it needs rewording. I see a reference at the end of that sentence but it appears to be a dead link; I don't know whether the information at that source would shed any light.--S Philbrick(Talk) 22:59, 17 December 2016 (UTC)
