editIs the "Incident" really necessary?
- Because it was in major media and is relevant to the understanding of the show, yes. Calwatch 03:47, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

Season Five Premiere
editThis press release puts the date of the premiere of Season Five (the current season) of the show as September 18, 2006, not September 11, 2006, as the article states. It is true the episodes which aired the week of September 11-15 were new, while most of the shows which aired through June, July and August were repeats, but that's not uncommon for this show, which frequently airs new episodes of the previous season just prior to the season premiere. In Season Four, it aired five new episodes in July, four in August and six in September before the 9/18 premiere of Season Five. According to the official Website, the fourth season began on Wednesday, September 14, 2005 after twelve new episodes earlier that August and September - including two the Monday and Tuesday prior to that Wednesday premiere. Season Three began on September 13, 2004 after airing ten new episodes beginning August 30. And Season Two began on Friday, September 19, 2003, after all the shows in the week leading up to it (and all but one of the shows in the two weeks leading up to that) were new. -- JCaesar 06:07, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

Spoofs
editThis list is incomplete, there are many more in the article on Dr Phil himself. Maybe these articles, or just the spoofs (references in popular culture) list, should be merged? 203.173.160.73 10:50, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
Scammers
editI think the paragraph about the women scamming viewers should be in the Dr Phil (person) article. While the scam and sting were shown on the show, the scam was actually involveing Dr Phil and his wife Robin themselves and not the show. Naysie (my tildes key is broken)
Iraq
editThere was just now a story on NPR about how Dr. Phil is quite popular in Iraq. I notice that there's an Arabic interwiki in the article... AnonMoos 12:38, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

Incidents: Porn star problems
editI'm planning to restore a paragraph under "Incidents" that was deleted on May 7, 2007 by Appollotiger who claimed that the reference cited was a "bad link." The New York Daily News article that documented this incident can be viewed in its original format on the Internet Archive at http://web.archive.org/web/20051231052936/http://www.nydailynews.com/news/gossip/story/313967p-268580c.html. The deleted paragraph was this:
- In a show that aired on May 2, 2005 the twin sisters Crystal and Jocelyn Potter appeared; Crystal claimed to want to "work" in the adult industry together with Jocelyn, who rejected the idea as repulsive. Brothel owner Dennis Hof was interviewed and stated that the two could make half a million dollars per year in his establishment. It turns out that the sister's testimony was less than truthful: since 2002 they have appeared as the "Potter sisters" in numerous porn movies together, and in 2003 they even appeared together with Hof in the porn movie "Goin' down at the Bunny Ranch".

Phil-isms: vandalism?
editOne of the quotes, near the bottom, is "I Am A Oatmeal Face!" This looks alot like vandalism to me. Should it be deleted? 24.226.77.23 (talk) 00:35, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
- Done. Please be bold if you think something is vandalism. Also, please think about getting a user account. There are a lot of tools that can help to make the anti-vandal process faster. Rgoodermote 00:37, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
- Well, since I don't watch the show myself, as far as I know, he could say that in every episode (although the poor grammar would suggest otherwise). 24.226.77.23 (talk) 13:00, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

Ambiguous "it"
editThe Dr. Phil House was set in an actual house within the Wilshire Park neighborhood in Los Angeles. It received numerous complaints from neighbors about the disruption caused by filming crews and the mentally unstable guests, unsightly cables and production trucks clogging the neighborhood, and the constant traffic caused by filming. The "it" is ambiguous and needs to be clarified. Ed (talk) 11:21, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
"Dr. Phil is an talk show.."
editShouldn't it be "Dr. Phil is a talk show"? Thanks Kvsh5 (talk) 07:03, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
Broadcasters?
editIs it really necessary to have a section on when and on which channels the show is aired in a numbber of countries? Last time I checked wikipedia was not a tv-guide. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.226.140.193 (talk) 17:53, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
- I agree. I list of channels it is broadcast in, maybe. But listing channels and actual times is ridiculous. Unless someone objects, I will remove the list. Ashmoo (talk) 15:08, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
---Can someone please edit the broadcasters section to show whether the the foreign 'casts are dubbed, or if they stay in English? I would tend to think they are dubbed (or subtitled). Thanks. Dwight666 (talk) 15:31, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

Episode list
editGiven the high ratings this show has, and since the episodes do all have unique titles and debut dates, I am wondering if we could get a List of Dr. Phil episodes page going. Obviously due to the sheer quantity there is no room for descriptions, actually describing the contents of the episode in a summary would have to wait for season-specific pages.
One feature I think we should implement is a hashtag column. I don't know when this started but in association with Twitter popularity, episodes of at least the last year or two have an officially promoted hashtag with the show. For example #NephewProblems is used for the 12 January 2016 episode "I Believe My Mooching Nephew and His Alleged Six Alter Egos Are Duping My Sister". This column would be a valuable tool for an episode list since it when then allow for easy access to Twitter discussion about the show. Since it is being officially promoted by the show and serves as a unique identifier (shorter than the episode title too, as they tend to be long) it aids in easy recognition of an episode.
Since Template:Episode list has "AltTitle" I think we should put the hashtag there, since that's what it effectively does, serves as an alternate title. 174.92.135.167 (talk) 20:47, 12 January 2016 (UTC)
- Hi. That is a good idea. Keep in mind that there is a lot. It would take quite a while to complete it. Notable episode policy
editWhat is required to have an episode stand out as notabe? Like for example if it was about a topic like Making a Murderer could we cover it, as opposed to covering a topic or person not notable enough to have an article?
There is nothing yet I know of for Nichole Madison Lovell (can see here covered in the recent Feb 10 ep "Virginia Tech Students Accused of Murdering" episode after a Jan 27 disappearance, though everyone else I look they spell her name Nicole Lovell not Nichole Lovell, odd) although that case is so recent that it's hard to say whether it will get an article in the future. Where possible if we had an episode list table we could create hyperlinks to other notable articles when they existed. 184.145.18.50 (talk) 21:42, 10 February 2016 (UTC)
- The series on the "Dr. Phil Family", you know, the family where the teenage girl got pregnant, is probably notable. As I recall, it was one of the most popular episodes. White Arabian Filly Neigh 02:54, 10 March 2016 (UTC)

Pedophilia episode
editI think Dr. Phil March 21st episode was notable because it claimed there was a pedophile ring operating in the United States and it interviewed a victim. Dr. Phil stopped airing in the Netherlands because of that episode. Regardless of whether everything was truthful that was said in the episode, it created a lot of news articles around trusted media so I think it's notable enough to be mentioned in the wiki article. - As User:Neiltonks said in their revert summary, "WP:SYNTHESIS inviting readers to infer the series was cancelled because of the episode's content when the sources in the article don't say this". You'll need to provide reliable sources that do. Please also note that when one of your edits is reverted, it's expected to take that edit to the talkpage for further discussion, not to reinstate it wholecloth. Sexy Vegan
editBlocked user, and way way irrelevant to this page.

SEXY VEGAN IS VERY NOTABLE, I DO NOT HAVE A HORSE IN THE RACE (i HAVE NO RELATION TO THE PERSON) OTHER THAN SEEING THE TRUTH AND THE TRUTH IS HE IS NOTEABLE AND LYING AND SAYING OTHERWISE IS NONSENSE. I am offended that an obviously noteable person is being claimed not so when the person saying so are obviously either haters of the person or did not bother to check the legit sources. What I wrote is easy to understand english so to claim it is not coherant is nonsense. before you erase my hours of reseach and hard work please talk to me first. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dantebish (talk • contribs) 09:41, 12 February 2018 (UTC)
The Dr. PhiL Show is a noteable source, Dr. phiL posted Sexy Vegan to his instagram and so did Chris Brown...those are 2 celebrities that posted him to their verified instagrams and the Dr. Phil show is very noteable and Sexy Vegan is on imdb also...seriously, I have seen far less noteable people listed on here plus that Cash me outside girl was listed as noteable episode before she had her own page and Sexy Vegan is way more impressive than her. I feel that Sexy Vegan's legal name change having a judge grant Sexy Vegan is noteable in it of itself much more so than calling the audience hoes. Sexy Vegan is on urban Dictionary and they claim to only accept celebs. He has noble goals and Sexy Vegan tattooed on his face. I mean, comeon, if this guy is not noteable nobody is. I am in process of making Sexy his well deserved article. he IS NOTEABLE— Preceding unsigned comment added by Dantebish (talk • contribs) 09:54, 12 February 2018 (UTC) OK IF SEXY IS NOT NOTEABLE WHY DID DR PHIL POST SEXY TO HIS INSTAGRAM ON OPRAH"S BIRTHDAY on 1/29/18 and he has never done that for a non celeb guest including the Cash me outside girl before? answer me that? And if I have no ties with Sexy vegan how am i promoting? I am stating facts about a noteable person. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dantebish (talk • contribs) 10:01, 12 February 2018 (UTC) |
