Removed "Rape crimes" section

edit

I removed the rape crimes section. Reasons:

  • Poor english: e.g. crimes are committed, not made
  • emotionally loaded language e.g. "brutal rape", whatever a non brutal rape is supposed to be
  • Claims unsupported by sources: e.g similar problems as Germany or Sweden (obtuse language, what problems exactly?) or contributed to the change in how austrians viewed immigrants (again weasel words, source does not indicate that views in general changed at all)

In general i don't think that "Crime in County X" articles are supposed to be a collection of crimes without international recognition which happened in a country but a general description of peculiarities of crime in a country or how it deals with it. 141.244.84.163 (talk) 17:10, 20 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

To support my last point, the articles Crime in Germany, Switzerland, France, Spain, Poland, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland contain any description of singular crimes in such details, most don't mention any actual crime at all. Generally, the articles are focused on statistics and legislative efforts to control crime.
Since removing material not up to encyclopedic standards in regards to language quality, neutrality or factualness is considered censorship without consensus from the talk page I invite opinions, if nothing is here in three days i will remove it again. I think three days are enough considering the very poor quality of the section. 141.244.84.163 (talk) 17:31, 20 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
While reading the linked article found additional problems: The first source does not contain the quote of Kurz at all, additional search showed it to be in relation to the rise to power of the Taliban in Afghanistan, with little connection to the crime. In the second description the perpetrators of Austrian nationality aren’t mentioned, creating the impression it was perpetrated exclusively by foreign nationals. Together with the other problems leading to a complete lack of encyclopaedic quality and the apparent aim of “crime in country X” to give general overview on crime, not to be a collection of specific crimes, I removed the section. Just to prevent accusations, if someone wants to write about sex crimes or crimes by foreign nationals in general, I have nothing against it at all, as long as it is done in a manner appropriate to an encyclopaedia and these articles in general. I think this material is in such stark contrast to both that it should not continue to be part of the article. I'm also the IP above. SimonsToaster (talk) 15:46, 23 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
