POV Tag
editI'm doing POV tag cleanup. Whenever an POV tag is placed, it is necessary to also post a message in the discussion section stating clearly why it is thought the article does not comply with POV guidelines, and suggestions for how to improve it. This permits discussion and consensus among editors. This is a drive-by tag, which is discouraged in WP, and it shall be removed. Future tags should have discussion posted as to why the tag was placed, and how the topic might be improved. Better yet, edit the topic yourself with the improvements. This statement is not a judgement of content, it is only a cleanup of frivolously and/or arbitrarily placed tags. No discussion, no tag.Jjdon (talk) 18:01, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

Cover Image 2021
editThe cover image was changed in January 2021 to a cover featuring Dua Lipa. [1] The edit summary stated that fact that image newer "Cover 5 years newer" but did not give any actual reason for the change.
The editor that did this made similar changes to other magazine cover images and appears to be a huge fan of Dua Lipa. There does not appear to be any special relevance or reason to pick this cover over any other cover image from this publication. Editors may want to try to restore the previous cover image or to try and add a cover image that better represents the history of this magazine. -- 109.78.195.140 (talk) 04:03, 30 January 2021 (UTC)
Exactly that was the explanation, the image is 5 years more recent and not the problem with that. Alexismata7 (talk) 14:55, 30 January 2021 (UTC)
- Newer describes what what' the cover is, it does not explain why you're spamming articles with Dua Lipa.
- The first cover or an anniversary cover would probably be a better more notable or relevant choice of image. -- 109.78.203.56 (talk) 15:40, 30 January 2021 (UTC)
- N.B. Template:Non-free magazine cover "Use of the image merely to depict a person or persons in the image will be removed." That's exactly what is happening here, it's a blatant violation. -- 109.78.203.56 (talk) 16:02, 30 January 2021 (UTC)
- Using the Wayback Machine I was able to see a version of the Clash Magazine page from August 2020. The cover image was Clash Magazine 2011, issue 69. There does not appear to be anything particularly notable about that cover image either, and the Dua Lupa cover image does not seem to be any better or worse than the previous image. -- 109.76.136.35 (talk) 00:41, 25 February 2021 (UTC)

If you consider that I am spamming or not, I am not going to leave the article without its respective image. It was my way of collaborating. Alexismata7 (talk) 18:39, 30 January 2021 (UTC)
TLDR the cover image of this article was changed to one featuring Dua Lipa for no particular reason (that arbitrary non-notable WP:N WP:NFCC#8 choice apparently doesn't invalidate the fair use claims). But since it was not notable editors should feel free to change the image to a more notable cover image if they want. -- 109.78.201.221 (talk) 17:24, 16 February 2021 (UTC)
- Editors might consider using the cover from the first issue from March 2004 which featured Franz Ferdinand [2] [3](includes cover image) or possibly The Clash magazine 100th cover which featured Justin Bieber[4](includes cover image) even though I don't like Bieber an anniversary cover would be better than any old random cover image. -- 109.79.77.239 (talk) 19:52, 31 January 2021 (UTC)
