Disruptive IP edits
editPage has semi-protection since an editor operating a number of IPs keeps inserting the same unverified, duplicate, ungrammatical information--and now I now where they get that from: they copied it from Encyclopaedia of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, which is a clear copyright violation (what's funny is they include the incorrect date of Rushdi's death, and then correct that in a later edit). I'm bringing that into the article as a source, and I hope that some of the Rushdi fans will read up on Wikipedia guidelines. Drmies (talk) 17:20, 27 July 200
- Ahmed Rushdi is considered to be one of the most versatile singers ofsubcontinent. He has recorded the highest number of film songs in the history ofpakistani cinema.Rushdi is also considered to be the first regular pop singer of asia as he introduced modern genres in asian music.
This is an encyclopedia, not a fan site. Documentation please, and please sign your name. The ungrammatical ("his voice is included in the national anthem" isn't even meaningful in English) and unverified edits you keep making from a variety of IP addresses will continue to be removed. Drmies (talk) 15:08, 16 August 2009 (UTC) Rushdi and Naheed Niazi are those singers who recorded the national anthem of pakistan in 1956 and this is on record. Its your lack of knowledge my dear which restricts you to distinguish between an encyclopedia and a few weasel words. Before writing about some national figure, you got to be a little more concerned about facts rather than just maintaining a stupid false stance.Use your thick brain please and check out about Ahmed Rushdi, you will come to know about the authenticity of my words. In old encyclopedia it was there that Rushdi is the first regular pop singer of asia. Please increse your vacabulary of words also because you dont seem to understand certain expressions in english.I hope you will not behave like a snobish child again. You people are the complexed ones who write big things aboutKishore Kumar out of your sheer inferiority complex but once it comes for some great Pakistani, you try to...forget it.I am not asking you to include something about Ahmed Rushdi which is not true but for god's sake,be impartial atleast. Thanks
- Well, there is a big difference between singing an anthem and being included in it (which doesn't mean anything). I've sung some anthems in my time also. "Stupid false stance"? You should consider reading WP:RS, and then adding a reliable source for the statements you add to the article (and please proofread those carefully, and check them for grammar--"increse your vacabulary of words" says it all, really). I don't know exactly who you mean with "you people," but I don't think I suffer from an inferiority complex in relation to Pakistan. Nonetheless, I thank you for your contribution to this talk page, even if it is a rude one. Drmies (talk) 23:00, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
'Increase your vacabulary ' was used in terms of lighter aspect and just to make you understand.Anyways,I am greatful if u just read facts about Ahmed Rushdi.Thaks for your concern(though its a snobish one). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 119.154.34.248 (talk) 11:43, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
- Considering that you refered to me as "you people" and a child and accused me of having an inferiority complex and a lack of vocabulary and knowledge of English etc., who's the snob? Read WP:RS, please. Drmies (talk) 18:35, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
- Seriously, how is "He is one of the most versatile singers of subcontinent of all times" an encyclopedic statement? You couldn't even verify such a qualification if you tried, and removing the refimprove tag, that's just pure vandalism. You make all kinds of claims about the subject, well, how about proving some of them? Drmies (talk) 18:36, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
My dear you have just got personal about it.Otherwise its not at all an issue.I dont have to prove something which has already been proved. For your knowledge just check the information about Ahmed Rushdi. This is on record that Rushdi andMohammad Rafi are the most versatile singers of subcontinent.Read Kishore Kumar's encyclopedia to educate yourself on the subject.I do not know why you have adopted a childish approach towards this matter and taking a false stance.Kindly do not undermine Ahmed Rushdi's importance.I will keep on correcting you on the subject in wikipedia and will not reply you any more.I think educating you is a useless thing.Take care. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 119.154.27.89 (talk) 18:56, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
- "This is on record that Rushdi andMohammad Rafi are the most versatile singers of subcontinent":. (First look at WP:V.) Feel free to start a fansite for Rushdi and Rafi, but that is not what Wikipedia is for. If you look at the article history, you will see that I have spent a lot of time copyediting the article, and even more time finding reliable sources for the information in it. All you have managed to do so far is insult my work, besides adding ungrammatical and unverified information to the article. I'm going to ask for page protection again. Facts about Legend Ahmed Rushdi
editI have carefully observed the golden era of Pakistani and Indian music and remained a neutral critic for the last fifty years. No doubt Ahmed Rushdi has a very unique voice quality and he dominated the music world for good about thirty years(till his death).I had been reading this argument on Rafi's and Rushdi's versatility on talk page and I agree that Mohammad Rafi and Ahmed Rushdi are versatile playback singers.Once I heard Saleem Shahzad (the former playback singer) sayng that Rushdi got a much more melodious and rich voice quality than Kishore Kumar and Kishore has no comparison with Rushdi.I asked him why Kishore has a higher fan following than Rushdi? His answer was "Indians did not let Kishore die even till today and we burried Rushdi in his life".Same is the case with Rafi.He was being ignored compeletely during 70s.Infact Rushdi has a better range and clearity of throw of words. After 1962,Mehdi Hassan also gained popularity but remained on second position inspite of his classical background and hard training. On the other side, this fact is on record that Ahmed Rushdi did not get any sort of formal training of classical singing but his God gifted tallents were extraordinary.Once Nisar Bazmi the famous music director said that Rushdi and Rafi are the two singers in subcontinent whom voices cannot form "cones" once they touch the higher notes.I am not a fan of Mohammad Rafi or Ahmed Rushdi but just writing facts about the great voices of south asia.Every singer has a place and singers of old times were very sensitive about their art, every name of those days is a milestone.Tallat Mehmood,Saleem Raza,Mukesh,Munir Hussain,Manna Dey,all have their places but Rafi and Rushdi both have a higher standing in terms of depth of emotions in their voices. This is also correct that Ahmed Rushdi along with eleven other singers recorded the official national anthem of pakistan in 1955.Pakistani music has not produced any other singer except Ahmed Rushdi who could sing every type of melody with so much perfection. No doubt he has done justice with the music of subcontinent.
Ahmed Rushdi's career never suffered
editIn wikipedia its written that Rushdi's career suffered in 70s due to Indian singers. This is a strange thing because no Indian singer ever gave a playback in pakistani film during 70s and 80s. Its because Indian singers were banned in Pakistan in that era. I do not understand who has entered this funny statement in Rushdi's wikipedia. Ahmed Rushdi remained the popular and most demanding playback singer till his death in 1983 and its a proven fact. Though he recorded comparitively less songs in his last years because of his heart disease and his doctors advised him to abstain from singing.. So I am going to correct this statement.
- Rushdi's career did suffer after 1975, when most musicians turned to Mehdi Hassan including Robin Ghosh and M. Ashraf. Emergence of A. Nayyar also affected Rushdi's demand.Insight 3 (talk) 17:47, 27 September 2021 (UTC)
First Regular pop singer of South Asia
editAhmed Rushdi is widely known as the first regular pop singer of south asia. He introduced hip-hop, disco and other modern genres in the South Asian music. In 50s and 60s, playback singers were following the traditional way of singing in both Indian and Pakistani film industries. Rushdi gave a new shape to playback singing in mid 60s and his style was copied immediately in subcontinent music industry. Then Kishore Kumar after gaining fame in India during early 70s, followed the same style. But Rushdi was singing in traditional way also. Like Mohammad Rafi, Ahmed Rushdi was also capable of singing in every mood. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 119.154.5.85 (talk) 11:51, 17 October 2009 (UTC)
- Do you have any reliable sources to prove this? Drmies (talk) 04:34, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- Yes I do have one. You can also consult [[1]]. 2:18, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
I expect this information to be added in wikipedia.Thank you very much. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 119.154.9.195 (talk) 21:30, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
Evergreen Voice
editIf you are looking for a golden Evergreen voice of South Asia, its none other than Ahmed Rushdi. His career spanned over thirty years. His voice was not only tailor made for Waheed Murad but equally suitable on Mohammad Ali, Syed Kamal, Nadeem, Shahid, Darpan, Allou-ud-DIN and Habeeb, His voice had that flaxibility to get idealy fited on comedians also. Munawwar Zarif, Lehri, Nanha and Qawwi are the best examples in support of the subject. Many voices like Tallat Mehmood, Saleem Raza, Manna Dey, Munir Hussain etc were lost with the change of taste but Rushdi very successfully entered into 60s from 50s and into 80s from 70s as a leading voice of Subcontinent. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 119.154.28.231 (talk) 19:05, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
Downfall of singer Saleem Raza due to Ahmed Rushdi
editSaleem Raza was the most demanding voice in late 50s as he was considered to be the last word in tragic songs. His career doomed because of Ahmed Rushdi's rise as a versatile singer. Raza started his career in 1955 and gained popularity as a specialist in sad songs. On the other side, in 1954 Rushdi established his name as an all rounder singer after the release of fim "Karnama". Till the end of 50s, Raza got more sad numbers as compared to Rushdi. 1961 was an important turning point for both Ahmed Rushdi and Saleem Raza. Music director Khalil Ahmed invited Ahmed Rushdi to sing a tragic number initially recorded by Saleem Raza. Khalil was not satisfied with ths singing of Raza and wanted Rushdi to re-record the song "Kisi chaman mei raho tum bahar ban ke raho" for the film "Ancahal". Rushdi re-recorded that song and even Khalil was surprised with the sad expressions of Rushdi in the song. After that, Saleem Raza slowly started getting out of the scene and by the end of 60s, Raza was a forgotton story. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 119.154.25.107 (talk) 14:54, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

Ahmed Rushdi is a very important part of Pakistan film music. I have noticed that at times his image is removed may be because of wikimedia common's policy....but i will also try to upload some rare image of this great legend.Dr.Mukesh111 (talk) 20:15, 6 April 2010 (UTC)

Year of birth
editAhmed Rushdi was born on April 24, 1935. But in wikipedia it was given 1938 which is wrong. I am writing the correct year of birth. Because when he died, he was 48 and not 44.Asjad 101 (talk) 20:44, 13 May 2010 (UTC)

Dubious
editAs the source used for all the Nigar Awards does not mention a Nigar award in 1963, it is a disputable statement. The source given instead does not even mention the word "Nigar", so it may as well be a different award. --Muhandes (talk) 18:08, 17 September 2011 (UTC)

The AfD notice
editThe {{Old AfD multi}} notice is there for informational purposes. It's to tell people that there was an AfD at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ahmed Rushdi that was closed as speedy keep. The anonymous user that keeps removing it has not really advanced any convincing reason to remove the template, and common practice is on GenuineArt's side, I'm afraid. Please tell us your reasoning here for removing the template before removing it again – otherwise, you are edit warring. And this is a really silly thing to be edit warring about.
