This isn't a forum for opinions. Uhm, why was his picture removed? Frantz Fanon

1864 war

edit

Did he really fight in at war in 1864? mdkarazim 02:34, 2 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

That's a simple typo. It was supposed to be '1964'. --Petercorless 04:56, 2 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Why was the implication of extrajudicial killings snipped?

edit

Anyone know why it was expunged without discussion? --Petercorless 05:09, 10 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Unfortunately hardly anybody sems to use edit summaries, so it's difficult to tell. My own view is that the sioftware should be tweaked so that adding an edit summary is obligatory, because relying on editors' courtesy and good practice is obviously not working. --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 11:40, 10 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
It was done by an anonymous poster. I'm not sure making a comment mandatory would help if you started seeing a lot of comments that looked like "aaaaaaaa" just to enter something in the box. --Petercorless 20:00, 10 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

"aaaaa" would be a good indication that something was wrong; the prevalence of unexplained edits means that one has to check all of them. Moreover, finding a mis-edit would be made much easier. That's partly why using comments is very strongly encouraged, and why failure to use them is an almost guaranteed block to becoming an admin. --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 20:55, 10 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Awash in POV

edit

This article is starting to spread POV fast and thick in both directions in recent edits. I have a mind to revert back to an earlier version. Thoughts first? --Petercorless 07:26, 20 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

The introductory section, at least, for sure. "has always been a patriot..." Whiskey Pete 00:42, 21 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
I took a stab at a re-write, and marked what I thought were significant unsourced statements. I hacked away some of the most dramatic of POV statements. --Petercorless 07:08, 21 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ethiopian ancestry

edit

I removed the Ethiopian ancestry blurb since it seems to be vandalism. There is no way that a decendant from Ethiopians let alone a Jewish Ethiopian could become a mebmer of a Somali clan as clan history is one of the most important parts of Somali society. I think that it was somthing thought up by an Islamic Courts Unoin backer who hates Ethiopians and the UN backed Somlai government for overthrowing the ICU and Jews due to his Islamic funndimentalism. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Albedo radii (talkcontribs) 01:39, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

October 2007

edit

Someone is vandalizing this article, making puerile allegations on a semi-regular basis. It is always from an anonymous IP address which, of course, changes with each occurrence (most recently, these have been Pakistani IP addresses; about a month ago similar edits were made from the UK). Just wanted to make a note of this activity. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 16:27, 25 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Resignment

edit

He resigned as The Somalian President since December 29, 2008 because he can't controlled Somalia from rebels.  Calvin Ho Jiang Lim  Talk 15:39, 29 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

It's not because he can't control the rebels it's because he got maneuvered. He thought he could get rid of the PM just like he did of the first one. He didn't bank on the PM convincing the world that his shaky peace deal can actually work. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Furious Stormrage (talkcontribs) 06:13, 30 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Islamic names

edit

This man is clearly a Muslim, why is he referred to as "Yusuf Ahmed" and not simply "Abdullahi"? Ryan Albrey (talk) 15:25, 30 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Allegations

edit

I have removed a rather incendiary paragraph that attempts to associate what appear to be targeted killings of certain individuals with the article's namesake. The material is all referenced to two self-published sources (a rather dodgy-looking personal website [1] and a blog [2]), which, per WP:SPS and WP:GRAPEVINE, are generally inadmissible as reliable sources since they are self-published. Over and above that, the material isn't actually about Ahmed himself, but about things men reported to be loyal or close to him are alleged to have done. The cited sources also don't suggest outright that Ahmed personally ordered the violence; so as far as one can tell, it's circumstantial evidence. To this end, WP:BLP states that one should "beware of claims that rely on guilt by association, and look out for biased or malicious content", which the material likewise clearly fails. NPOV

edit

There's persistent introduction of non-encyclopedic material from unreliable sources which I removed in good faith. The [email protected] is also introducing controversial material with dubious sources in Osman Mahmoud. I reverted both pages but if it continues page level protection may be needed.
