History
edit2005–2007: Naluri Lelaki
editTheir first album, titled Naluri Lelaki, was released on 25 November 2005.[citation needed] The album received multi-platinum awards for sales.[citation needed] At the Anugerah Musik Indonesia (Indonesian Music Awards) in 2006, the band won awards in several categories, including Best Newcomer, Best Group/Duo, Best Song (for "Kenangan Terindah"), and Best Album (for Naluri Lelaki).[citation needed] Their song "Di Penghujung Muda" was number one on the MTV Ampuh chart from August 2005 to December 2005.[citation needed]
2007–2013: Penantian Hidup, SAMSONS and Perihal Besar
editTheir second album, Penantian Hidup, was released on 19 July 2007.[1] Production took place in Indonesia, Australia, and the United States. Samsons collaborated with the Budapest Scoring Symphony Orchestra and the Sydney Philharmonic Orchestra on orchestral arrangements written by Erwin Gutawa. Penantian Hidup was mixed by Guy Grey at Singsing Studio in Melbourne and mastered by Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound in New York.[2]
After Penantian Hidup achieved platinum sales status, an extended version of the album, Penantian Hidup: Platinum Edition, was released in 2008 with three additional songs.[citation needed]
Their third, self-titled album, SAMSONS, was released in 2009 and recorded using analog equipment at Aquarius Studio in Jakarta.[citation needed]
In 2013, Samsons released Perihal Besar, their fourth album and the first to feature new vocalist Aria Dinata, who joined in 2012 after the departure of Bams in late 2010.[citation needed] The album featured the single "Di Ujung Jalan".
2016–2021: V
editIn late 2016, Samsons released the single "I Love You". In 2017, the single "Cinta Mati" was released.[citation needed] Both songs were included on their fifth studio album, V, released on 18 December 2020.[citation needed] The album included twelve songs, including previously released singles "Tuhan Tak Pernah Salah" and "Jika Nanti".[citation needed] V was the last album to feature vocalist Aria Dinata.[citation needed]
In 2017, Samsons released the single "Cinta Mati", which would later be included on V. The song was written by Irfan Aulia in 2012. Before being performed by Samsons, "Cinta Mati" was originally released and sung by Marcell Siahaan in 2015. Samsons performed the song with a new arrangement, once again working with the Budapest Scoring Symphony Orchestra.[citation needed]
On 18 December 2020, the band released their fifth album titled V, which contained twelve songs, including four previously released singles ("I Love You", "Cinta Mati" "Tuhan Tak Pernah Salah", and "Jika Nanti"). V was the band's last album with Aria Dinata as a vocalist.[citation needed]
2022–present: Adrian Martadinata joins
editAdrian Martadinata joined Samsons as their new vocalist in March 2022.[3] The band subsequently released two singles in 2022: "Rayu" and "Rasa yang Salah".[citation needed]
