Damir Špoljarič (born 21 May, 1988)[1] is a Czech entrepreneur, technology, real estate, and aviation investor, and a professional pilot.[2][3][4][5]
Life
editHe graduated from the "V Úžlabině" Secondary Industrial School of Electrical Engineering, specializing in information technology. He further studied (but did not complete) at the University of Economics in Praguefocusing on psychology.
In 2006, at the age of 17, he founded the company vshosting[6][2], which, after three years, became one of the largest companies in the field of internet project infrastructure management and data center operations. Vshosting is expanding from the Czech Republic to Slovakia, Hungary[7], and recently to Germany[8] with the aim of continuing this trend. The company is currently part of the Contabo Group, which is part of the KKR portfolio. Damir Špoljarič is still the CEO of the VSHosting group[9] and its investor.
Damir Špoljarič is also engaged as an investor in global technology projects. In 2021, he founded an investment vehicle named Gi21.vc, which directly or indirectly invests in many technology projects all over the world, both in their initial stages (venture investing) and in more advanced stages. Recent investments include companies such as Keboola, VRgineers, and Blindspot.[10]
He is also a developer of residential complexes and hospitality facilities throughout Europe. For example, as part of the MPPD group, he aims to become one of the largest hospitality providers in Croatia and the surrounding region.[10]
Since 2020, he has also been a recreational commercial pilot on Airbus A320 family aircraft and a captain on Phenom 100/300. In 2024, his investment portfolio company Alpha Aviation became the second-largest aircraft operator in the Czech Republic (after Smartwings) and the largest in the field of business aviation (private jets).[10]
