Bharatiya Janata Party, Telangana

Bharatiya Janata Party, Telangana or simply BJP Telangana is the state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the Indian state of Telangana. The party's state headquarters is located in Nampally of Hyderabad, the capital of the state. Bandi Sanjay Kumar is formerly appointed as the president and K. V. Ramana Reddy as the vice president of BJP Telangana.

The party currently holds 0 seats in the Rajya Sabha and 8 seats in the Lok Sabha from the state. Furthermore, the party has 1 seat in the Telangana Legislative Council and 8 seats in the Telangana Legislative Assembly.

History

After the formation of Telangana, the BJP in alliance with Telugu Desam Party fought the 2014 Legislative Assembly election.[1] BJP won 5 seats in the newly formed Telangana Legislative Assembly. BJP also won a Lok Sabha seat from Secunderabad constituency in the simultaneously held 2014 Lok Sabha election.[2]

In 2018, the state assembly was dissolved earlier than its term, and elections were held same year. BJP in this election could only secure 1 seat.[3] However, in the 2019 Lok Sabha BJP won 4 out of the 17 seats.[4] The BJP got 19.45% of the total votes.[5]
