This is Liverpool's first season under new head coach Arne Slot, who was announced as Jürgen Klopp's replacement on 20 May 2024. This season is also the first since 2015–16 without Joël Matip, and the first since 2019–20 without Thiago, who both retired from professional football after their contracts expired.[1]
On 10 December 2024, Liverpool recorded their 150th win in European football following a 1–0 win over Girona in the UEFA Champions League.[2]
On 18 January 2025, Liverpool played their 6,000th competitive game since the club's inception in 1892, defeating Brentford 2–0 thanks to two late goals from substitute Darwin Núñez in the Premier League.[3]
