The research lines of the group are focused on the analysis of the linguistic, cultural and social mechanisms that occur in the translation of written and audiovisual media across different historical contexts. The historical perspective and the descriptive translation studies methodology, together with the use of new technologies, are the distinguishing features of the group. The poster includes the main results (in terms of networks of excellence, collaborations, conferences and tools) of the group obtained by merging Translation Studies research and Digital Humanitites.Consolidated research group recognised and funded by the Basque Government (2010-2012; 2013-2015; 2020-2022, IT1209/19), and by the University of the Basque Country (2013-2020, GIU19/067, PIF18/199

This paper intends to analyze the use of a special type of phraseological unit-collocations formed by onomatopoeia and verbs-from a translational perspective in the language combination of German-Spanish-Basque. For that purpose, some introductory remarks will first be given regarding the realities of the Basque language and research on Basque phraseology. Then, the object of study will be presented, and the importance of Basque onomatopoeia will be highlighted. Since this is a corpus-based study, details on the compilation of the digitized, parallel, and multilingual corpus will be outlined, and it will be shown how these types of collocations were extracted from such a corpus in a semi-automatic way. In the translation analysis, it will be shown how one translation option stands out and how different factors (indirectness, for instance) influence Basque translations.

J Jpn For Soc 100: 71⊖76 The purpose of this study was to investigate the absence or existence and the traits and factors of changes occurring in "QOL" and "mood states" of respondents, who generally live in urban areas, during their stay at a university forest in a famous resort area. The research sites included the university forest and its accommodation facilities, which belonged to the Fuji Iyashinomori Woodland Study Center, the University of Tokyo. The respondents were 19 students who participated in the exercise lecture of the graduate school (five days and four nights). Respondents were required to answer WHOQOL26 (for examining QOL) and POMS (for examining mood states). WHOQOL26 was measured twice, on the first morning and the last evening of their stay; meanwhile, POMS was evaluated five times, once every morning. Results confirmed that there were no statistical differences among any of the indicators in the QOL, whereas a statistical difference was detected in four indicators of mood states, including tensionanxiety, depression-dejection, anger-hostility, and confusion. These four indicators appeared to exhibit changes depending on the daily weather composition and exercise schedule.

It will be shown not only that “typical” source language interference can be found in translated texts, but also that interference arises from other texts and/or languages present in the translator’s mind, most commonly in this study; Spanish. For the purpose of carrying out such an analysis, a digitized, parallel and multilingual corpus was compiled consisting of German source texts (STs), Basque target texts (TTs) and their corresponding intermediary versions in cases of indirect translation.

This type of phraseological unit has been analyzed from several perspectives and across different languages (Malkiel, 1959; Gustaffson, 1984; Müller, 2009; Čermák, 2010; Toury, 2012; Pontrandolfo, 2011), but this is the first attempt to carry out a corpus-based translation analysis of binomials in the German-Basque/Spanish language combination.
