Butterfly Bop is a recurring fan skill that first appeared in the tenth game. When performed, it launches a series of papillon-themed particle beams at enemies.

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King 3DS[edit]
Red will learn Butterfly Bop when she invests 100 points into her fan skillset. It costs 5 MP, and deals 150%~200% damage to all enemies. It is classified as a dance in the game's programming, and can thus be sealed with Ban Dance.
Dragon Quest X[edit]
The skill is learned by allocating 100 points into the fan weapon set, and will deal 130%~160% to surrounding enemies for 6 MP.
Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince[edit]
Butterfly Bop costs 15 MP and damages all enemies, based on one-tenth of the user's agility stat. It is learned through the Bobby Dazzler, Pop Diva, and Rug Cutter talents.
Theatrhythm Dragon Quest[edit]
Butterfly Bop is exclusive to Luminaries, and deals damage to all enemies on screen.

Dragon Quest Tact[edit]
Butterfly Bop can be learned by Maya at level 33. It costs 111 MP to cast, has a range of three squares in front of her, and inflicts major typeless spell damage to all enemies in a range of three squares horizontally. Upgrading the spell increases its damage and reduces the MP it costs to cast.
