me

Hi! I am Lyndsey (Lynz to all who matter except my spouse, kid and Beloved Wee Granny) and I am happily meandering through my ordinary life in Central Scotland. It's okay - I like ordinary. *g* I also like food, books, obnoxious music and science fiction. I work in the town I live in and grew up in here in Central Scotland - I make specs. I have a posh title but it's a bit not-very-me. Here I am. All 41 years of me. Yikes.

I am relentlessly optimistic, independent to a fault and have fairly extreme, bipolar tastes. Old cottages, shabby chic, roses-round-the-door style, kitschy 50's retro, Gothic skulls and Steampunk. I am Mum to my (teenaged-not-so) Wee Chookie and Wife (capital letter coz that's what he calls me) to the Spouse. And here they are.

I also share my home with our two Bengal cats, Temple and Jones. They look like butter wouldn't melt, eh? Don't believe it - they are called the hooligans for a reason!

I started quilting in the late spring of 2009. I was actually looking for a pattern for a beanbag doorstop for my then sister-in-law. Her conservatory door was being jammed open with her other half's big, stinky trainer and I knew I could do better. My search led me to Elizabeth Hartman and I was instantly smitten with modern quilting - all those pretty colours and no brown or anything! Ironically I am now a big fan of traditional, brown quilts! From there I found Flickr and my first quilt-along with the Old Red Barn Company.
(my first proper quilt - free-motion stippled and everything!)
I haven't stopped making quilts since and count myself very blessed to be part of our wonderful online sewist community! But this is not a sewing or a crafting blog. It is my record of me and my family so be warned - you are as likely to find an entry on a family birthday or a cat drama as you are pretty sewn things or scrapbooking or knitting. You have been warned! *g*

  1. Hi Lynz, Is this the best place to contact you? I was just wondering about your Beloved Wee Granny - how is she doing?
I have a photo of her in my Women of Influence book taken when she was 86 some years ago. Must have been one you put on the blog and it struck me how she had influenced you.
    Hope you are all welll

    1. She's going okay, Julie! She's a frail old lady of 93 in a home now but still has all her marbles, her faith and humour!!

    1. Thank you! I don't know how many people catch the George Lucas reference but it makes me giggle.

Hi! I'll try really hard to reply to comments by email (unless you're a no-reply Blogger in which case I can't!) because I love getting your messages but I'm a working mum and don't always manage - I read and appreciate every single one!
