Arne Jacobsen was born and raised in Copenhagen. In 1927, he graduated as an architect from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. AJ Eklipta was designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1959 for Rødovre Town Hall. Two sizes were produced for this project: 13.7" and 17.7". They were used indoors on stairways and outdoors as wall lamps. A 8.7" version was later designed for St. Catherines College in England. Arne Jacobsen preferred the largest model when specifying his own projects. Today, AJ Eklipta is used worldwide and in a variety of architectural contexts.
