You can use buttons for anything....

Arlene shows us how she uses buttons on her card....

Cute as image coloured beautifully and see how she has used a button for a paper weight... Love the beautiful scalloped square background.  Arlene is such a great recycler, that is from a tissue box.

Just a few days left to join our Buttons and Bows challenge.  Do come and join us.

Another cute Teddy

Marsha has made us another beautiful Teddy card.

She has cut out the paws to pop them on the outside of the window, which is lined with ribbon.  "Hi" is cut out with one of the Cuttlebug Alphabet sets.

Inside of card.

How sweet is this.  Just the inspiration needed to get your buttons/bows card in for the challenge this month.  Still plenty of time to enter.

Introducing Cathie

And now it's with great pleasure I introduce you to our final new Diva

Cathie

Tell us a little about yourself

I live in Adelaide South Australia with my long suffering husband of 8 years and 2 small rug racks 6 and 3. I haven't always lived here, my husband a born and bred Adelaidian convinced me to move here and I haven't looked back since.
I spend my time three days a week working as a payroll and HR administrator for a furniture company as well as trying to complete my Diploma of Human Resources. At the moment I have become completely obsessed with blog land so that is taking up every other spare chance I get.
I would really love to have 36 hours in a day and not have a need for sleeping and then I just might get everything done that I would like to do.

How long have you been a card maker/scrapper & when did you start?
I can still remember it like it was yesterday, the fateful day in 2004 when my mother - in law took me to my first Quilt and Craft fair where I saw a demonstration of stamping with pigment inks and varied embossing powders, I knew I was hooked.
It was the first step: I started with basic Christmas cards and birthday cards incorporating pre-made sticker embellishments and computer clip art. It wasn't until I had complications after having my son in 2011 that I discovered the world of YouTube and Blog land, mainly other peoples blogs with the exchange of ideas, techniques and card designs, the options were endless. To my husband's dismay, this was when the addiction really started.

Do you follow sketches or dive right in?
I tend to do both. Sometimes I have something in mind or a particular image or stamp I want to use and I go from there. Sometimes I need some direction and sometimes I like the challenge of trying to make a sketch work but I very rarely have the card mapped out before I start (sometimes to my detriment)
How many projects do you make a week?
It varies week to week and what else I have going on, and how many birthdays I have or whether I am wrestling with something that is not working. At the moment on average I am making 2 to 3 cards a week but I do know come November to December with the amount of birthdays and christmas cards I have to make I go into crazy craft mode.

What is your favourite tool (what can't you create without) & why?
I cannot dream of creating without my fiskars paper trim, I have tried and failed many times trying to cut straight with no avail. The other thing I have to mention would be my cuttlebug,
Very rarely do I not pull it out to create something on my card.

What at the moment is your most favourite thing to do on your project?
I have to say I am little bit obsessed at the moment with finding different folds for my cards, and I must say my wink of stella glitter pen is getting a real work out.

How would you describe your style?
Varied. I love to do a lot of different things depending on the mood and my outcome. Stamping, Embossing, CAS, colouring of images with water colours and copics. I  think its safer to say what isn't part of my style, I am not really into "shabby chic" or "vintage" or a lot of distressing(distressing inks yes, distressing of paper no) and I like to embellish but I don't like my cards looking super cluttered and I naturally lean towards groupings of three.

What about your style would you change (or not) & why?
The one thing I would like to change is not necessarily part of my style but I am a perfectionist and I think sometimes I need to let go and say "Yes, that is great and they will love it" instead picking at it.

Have you been published or on a Design team - when & where?
I am currently on two other Design Teams, Perfectly Rustic Challenge Blog and I have just been excepted as part of the permanent Creative Team at Fitztown - but shhhhh that hasn't been announced yet. I am quite new to blog land only starting in April so you can image I am absolutely amazed that I have been invited at all, never considering that three design teams would.

Describe (pictures are even better) your crafting area
I am one of the lucky ones that I do have a whole room to myself - technically I have to share it with my children but they do know not to touch anything on mummy's craft table and they can't go in there without me. I have a table with a IKEA hutch system with everything arranged at my finger tips. I would love it to be neat and tidy all the time but that tends to be a hit and miss affair.

Do you have a blog? If not where can we see more of your fabulous creations?
Yes - my blog is the House of Borowski. I don't have as many creations as others as I have just started but I am working on it.

Thanks to Cathie for such a sweet card.  Don't you just love those button flowers.

Introducing Hilde

Another fabulous new Diva to introduce to you.

Welcome Hilde

  • I am a Mother to 3 adult children,  grandmother to 3 and we have 2 dogs and 2 cats....My youngest (daughter) is turning 19 and still lives at home, my two boys have flown the coop, they are 32 and 29. I live near Sydney on the beautiful Hawkesbury River. Great scenery and we have Sulphur Crested Cockatoos, Magpies, King Parrots, Eastern Rosellas and Rainbow Lorikeets visiting every afternoon. Lots of bird life where we live. A great place, love it.
  • How long have you been a card maker/scrapper & when did you start?
  • I have been a card maker for about 8 years on and off, and pretty much tried my hand and everything else along the way, when my daughter was little I sewed and smocked, I tried silk painting, folkart, water colour, mosaic, cottage crafts, embroidery, crochet, knitting, all the usual suspects, love it all....but paper craft has taken over my life for now, lol.
  • Do you follow sketches or dive right in? Dive in
  • How many projects do you make a week? As I also sell my cards I make I would say I make a least a dozen cards a week.
  • What is your favourite tool (what can't you create without) & why?
  • My double sided tape that tears( so I don't have to cut it and waste time, lol) , and I do a marathon die cutting session every two weeks...and use them here and there on my cards. So that would mean my Big shot (I am on my second one now, and it;s starting to make funny noises so might need number 3 soon)
  • What at the moment is your most favourite thing to do on your project? Using vintage prints I find on the internet and mixing them up with die cuts
  • How would you describe your style? I hover in between CAS and full on.....not sure I have a style, like to try a bit of everything really...
  • What about your style would you change ? I am in love with the elegant vintage style and am leaning more toward that and would like to explore more in that direction but I am not there yet.
  • Describe (pictures are even better) your crafting area. OMG where do I start....I do have a very large long desk and it's very messy, but that's how I get my ideas, something might just be sitting there, and all of a sudden I am off, and know exactly what to do.
  • Do you have a blog? If not where can we see more of your fabulous creations?
  • I do and it called happyglitzygirl and yes I love, love, love glitz and bling...

And look what Hilde has to share with us.

Introducing Marsha

Today I have much pleasure to introduce the first new Divas to you....

Introducing Marsha....

How long have you been a card maker/scrapper & when did you start?
About 14 years ago I was introduced to Stampin' Up!  .  Immediately I was thrilled with the idea that I could make greeting cards with rubber stamps.  Since then, I have become a fan of digital stamping; love the versatility of their use as well as the ease of pre-colored images.  I use those more now than my 100's of rubber and clear stamps.

Do you follow sketches or dive right in?
A sketch is a must for me.  My creativity is definitely dependent on some one's sketch or design.

How many projects do you make a week?
It could be safe to say that I am addicted to cardmaking.  During the winter months, I make at least 40 cards a month which I send to Operation Write Home.  There are 24 of us in my family (11 of them grandchildren) so with all the birthdays, anniversaries, and special events, 45 cards a month is not unusual.

What is your favourite tool (what can't you create without) & why?
What is my favorite tool?  How about my fav three:  guillotine cutter, ScorePal, Cuttlebug.  A great big cutter is a must for me in order to cut straight! Love my score pal if only to fold the cards evenly in half.  And the Cuttlebug I use for dies as well as embossing.  How did I do without it?

How would you describe your style?
Because so many of my cards to to OWH, I keep my cards fairly simple and without many embellishments.  NO GLITTER is allowed, which is okay by me because I'm not inclined to do glitz and bling anyway.  I have tried to stretch myself to do multi-media and shabby chick but my comfort is clean cuts, symmetry, no frills.

Describe  your crafting area.
I am very fortunate to have a room set apart for my crafts.  It is great not to have to clean up after myself - just close the door til next chance to play.

Do you have a blog? I
Over the last 3 years I have been on six design teams - all digital companies or challenge blogs.  I am currently on 2 DT's.
Come on over and take a peak:  grammasroom.blogspot.com

Here is my first card for July.

Welcome Marsha.   Looking forward to more of your inspiration.

A little Round Card

Even though we receive a free image from Bugaboo, I can't resist buying images I can't do without and how can you pass up 50% off in July, plus something's planned July 12th.

On with my card for today.  Do you ever make a card and think, "I did that?".  This is one of those times.  The image is from Bugaboo Digi Stamps and I thought a little color is all I wanted on the Sketchy Floral Teapot.  Can you believe the different images that you can purchase from Bugaboo, funny and sassy to elegant and stylish?   This is the first time I've cut this die and I have to say I think it's amazing.  I think it would make a fire truck look elegant.   I'm going to hate to give it away.  Hope you like it.

The Red, White and Blue Celebrations

July 4th, Independence Day, is the National Day of the United States and is celebrated by fireworks, parades, barbecues, carnivals and fairs, picnics and concerts, baseball games and family reunions.  There are usually political speeches and ceremonies.
The little girl on this card is celebrating too.  I think she turned out rather patriotic   I keep thinking Bugaboo Digital Stamps made her just for me.  You must all know by now how I love the Sun Bonnet girls.

Do the other Divas' have something in mind?

Dawn is celebrating too.  I just love the fun embossed background Dawn created for her dude.
