I saw lots of blue in.....

I saw lots of blue like the blue in the sky and everywhere else in Gulf Shores, Alabama at the National Shrimp Festival! On my pink Saturday post I posted that I would be making a weekend trip, that it had something to do with shrimp and that it was a surprise!

Bo from Blinks and Winks from Brown Eyes guessed Gulf Shores and Janie from Southern Lagniappe guessed the Shrimp Festival at Gulf Shores. They were both right
!
In all my years of going to Gulf Shores, this was my very first time to go to the National Shrimp Festival. You can click here to read more about it.
The trip was planned by my daughter and was a surprise for Chad to celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary. You are probably wondering why I was included in the trip. They renewed their wedding vows on the beach, and asked family members to be there to witness the ceremony and celebrate with them.

I took lots of pictures, and will share a few of them later in the week after I see which ones Kelli wants for her blog!

For today, I'll just post some of the blue I spotted at the National Shrimp Festival...which was everywhere...like this sign.

This cute little decorative hanging vases-the blue ones really stand out!
Fountains created from old brass and silver with a turquoise tint
Flamingos with a new twist..... turquoise in color!
Art created with bottle caps-I really liked this red, white and blue patriotic creation.
Here's Cooper dressed in BLUE. Everyone thought he was a girl. We finally got tired of correcting them and just smiled and said "Thank you" when he got a compliment!
And this picture of Connor modeling his cool new light up blue sunglasses. We had a great time at the festival, especially the two mornings that we went. It was pretty crowded as the day went on, and hard to see it all, but I really enjoyed it and would love to go back!

Sally from Smiling Sally has been hosting Blue Monday. This is my second Blue Monday post. It seems that I've started looking for blue along with the pink! Please visit Sally's blog for other Blue Monday posts. Thanks Sally for hosting this event. Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day.

Lunch with the girls!

Last Thursday a group of my friends and I drove to Livingston, Alabama for lunch. They are the best group of friends ever! I am keeping Cooper full time for awhile since his baby sitter had a baby, and they didn't hesitate one bit for him to tag along! After eating at Diamond Jim's, we went to a Farmer's Market and bought a watermelon and tomatoes. On the way back to Meridian, we stopped at the Cotton Patch Studio in York, Alabama.

Below is a mosaic mural on the side of the store that the owners have been working on. Charlie, one of the owners, told us that it is really beautiful at night when the lights from the cars shine on it! This picture doesn't do it justice at all. Here are all of us in a photo that Charlie took. Notice that Cooper is really taking in the mosaic art behind him! I have such a WONDERFUL group of friends!

Here's their a sign inside the store. We didn't spend much time inside because the kiln had been on and it was hotter inside than outside if you can believe it. They have some beautiful items that I would love to have photographed. Notice the cute little mosaic birdhouse...one of the items they make there.
I had to take a picture of these planters in downtown York. They were absolutely beautiful! So green, lush, and healthy. It was obvious that someone in this small sleepy town had taken such great care of them. And other planter with a trellis along a store front.... It was so hot that day, but we enjoyed our ride over there and the detour on the way home to see the mosaic wall. Be sure to click on the link and check out the studio. Visiting this tiny Alabama town was fun! Small towns have a lot to offer...if you know where to look!
