The instrument for data collection was a questionnaire titled "Teachers competence in ICTs in secondary schools (TCICTSSQ)". The instrument was subjected to face validity and a reliability test with the use of Cronbach Alfa statistical technique which yielded a coefficient of 0.74. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics of t-test. The hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. Findings revealed that teachers' competence in ICT is important because it improves the quality of teachers work; it enables teachers to be in tune with the latest development in their field and enhances online learning. The study also revealed among others, that teachers' competence in ICT is low. This study therefore assessed teachers' capacity building and sustainable development in secondary schools in Rivers state. Three research questions and hypotheses were formulated to guide this study. All teachers from the 245 public secondary schools in Rivers State constituted the population and sample size of 1500 teachers were randomly selected for the study and they constituted the study respondents. An instrument called teachers' capacity building and sustainable development questionnaire (TCBSDQ) was used for data collection and its reliability coefficient was computed at 0.78. Mean and standard deviation was used to analyze the research questions and ztest statistics to test the hypotheses. Findings of the study revealed that teachers agreed that all other types of capacity building programmes were made available to them except for in-service training that they bene fitted from all the programmes made available to them while their major challenge was impact assessment. Some of the recommendations made were that the government should often provide capacity building pto grammes for teachers, provide a scholarship scheme which will enhance the skill of teachers and help in upgrading of their certificates and current trends of life should be included in the capacity building programmes offered to teachers such as information and communication technology (lCT).

This pandemic affected all especially the girl child as it affected their education to a great extent. The education sector is known to be the catalyst for the development of any nation but the pandemic brought about a lot of changes and disruptions in the educational sector. The girl child has a lot of responsibility to shoulder because she is expected to produce children, cook, mend and wash clothes and take care of men and be subordinate to male authority. Hence during the pandemic, she stopped school to carry those responsibilities including taking care of the sick ones in the house. The CO VID-19 pandemic is not only a challenge for global health systems, but also a test of our human spirit. Women enrollment in education has been greatly affected as a result of the notion that women'sfunction of being homemakers and caring for children is not important and therefore they are to be seen and not heard. This paper therefore discussed selected gender issues in Nigeria's educational system during COVID-19 pandemic. It was concluded that if necessary attention is not given to women, government's plan in achieving gender equality cannot be achieved and the Nigeria education system will be greatly affected. One of the suggestion is that the government should make room for public campaigns to be launched and strengthened so as to advocate the girl child education in Nigeria.

Two research questions and three hypotheses were raised as guide to the study. The study adopted the descriptive survey method of the ex post facto research design. The population comprised all 7 federal and 9 state owned universities and stakeholders in the six states making up the South South geo-political zone of the country. The sample comprised 240 respondents (120 from federal and 120 from state universities) randomly drawn from 6 (3 federal and 3 state) universities out of the total of 16 public universities on ground as at 2019. Data was collected with a self-developed questionnaire titled, "Astronomical Increase in Number of Public Universities Questionnaire (AINPUQ)" which was validated and subjected to reliability test using Pearson Product Moment Correlation statistics that yielded a coefficient of 0.70. Data obtained were analyzed using descriptive statistics (mean ratings and standard deviation) for the research questions and inferential statistics (t-test) was used to test the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. Findings established amongst others that there were both positive and negative implications of astronomical increase in number of universities with those who believed that it is a blessing claiming that it opened up access to more admission places for the teaming youths; while those who believed that it is a curse claimed that quality education has been sacrificed on the altar of quantity. The study concluded that astronomical increase in universities in Nigeria has both positive and adverse effects on every stakeholder of the education sector. The study recommended amongst others that increase in universities should attract a corresponding increase in budgetary allocation to education; that government should make adequate provisions for existing universities before embarking on establishment of new ones and that ASUU"s demand for revitalization of Nigerian universities should be favourably considered.

One research question and one hypothesis guided the study. The study adopted the correlational design as the working design. The population comprised 247 principals from the 247 secondary schools in Rivers State and a sample size of 152 principals drawn with multistage sampling approach representing 62% of principals. The principals responded to two structured validated instruments titled Continuance Commitment Questionnaire (CCQ) and Teachers' Performance Questionnaire (TPQ) designed by the researcher. The reliability coefficient of the instrument using cronbach alpha method was 0.60. Simple regression was used to answer the research question while t-test associated with simple regression was used to test the null hypotheses. Findings of the study showed that Continuance commitment predicted 4% of teachers' performance in secondary schools and it was also revealed that there was no significant contribution between continuance commitment and teachers' performance in secondary schools in Rivers State. It was concluded that affective commitment predicts 12.80% of teachers' performance in secondary schools in Rivers State. The remaining 87.20% cannot be accounted by affective commitment. This shows that continuance commitment predicts 4% of teachers' performance in secondary schools in Rivers State. The remaining 96% cannot be accounted by continuance commitment. There was no significant contribution between affective commitment and teachers' performance in secondary schools in Rivers State. It was therefore recommended that a forum should be created by the principals where teachers are given opportunity to talk about their challenges, make suggestions and recommendations for better performance.
