László Moholy-Nagy was born in Hungary 1895 and while serving in the German army WWI, was severely wounded. He became involved with painting while convalescing and was influenced by the Russian avant-garde and the German expressionists. In 1923 he was appointed head of the Bauhaus metal workshops and became co-editor of the Bauhaus books.
