Winter and Spring

Did ya ever wonder what happens when it snows too much in a city? I shot some photos yesterday that I forgot to add to my blog so better late than never.
If only all streets in the city could look forward to this...
Snow hauled away by the truck(s) full...
really full!

I don't know where they take this snow but finally it's moving. In my neighborhood we finally had the streets plowed, the snow still remains pushed off to the sides of the road and the lane is down to one way traffic. It gets interesting when everyone is sick of winter and waiting and -30 doesn't help matters much neither.

Now back to today...
I went out and bought myself some color, I'm tired of gray and white and cold.

I figure if I have to wait for spring, well I could be waiting a long time so I brought spring to me!

Now that's refreshing!

  1. I can remember one time having enough snow here that they hauled it away. It was funny though, One business loaded it in a truck and drove about 100 yards to dump it in a vacant lot next to them! It seemed so silly but I guess it was still the fastest way to move it.

The flowers are beautiful! I like to get some for Tammy once in a while but they are just so expensive I can't afford to very often! I was actually thinking yesterday that I should try to get her some for Valentines day. I think I will! :)

  2. What the heck would they move it that close? That's hilarious! And a suggestion for buying Tammy flowers, the sooner the better. The closer we get to Valentines day the higher in price they go. Have you thought of maybe a small rose plant vs. the flowers? Just a thought.

What time is it there? Oh my goodness, it's 4am here, where does the time go when one is reading boring textbooks? lol Nite Andy, have a fantastic day!

  3. Darlin, I'm still alive and well in Ohio. Started a new job, but not blogging. The job was a little overwhelming at first, but getting the hang of it now. I'm doing intake assessments for home care programs and work from home. Much to learn, lots of time on the computer, lots of driving. Right now, we are looking forward to ice, not so much snow. Guess I won't be driving for a while. Hope school is going well.

  4. It's 6am here and I just got up for work! We've had freezing rain overnight and the schools are all canceled so I'm killing the time I normally spend getting ready to take the kids down to the bus stop. I get about 30 minutes more for my morning when there is no school.

I might do the rose plant idea. She loves doing her flowerbeds every year and that would be a nice addition.

Get some sleep and have a great day tomorrow! (Which is today for me! :) )

  5. JUDY! Wow, fantastic hearing from you and congrats on the new job! That's good you get to work from home with icy roads, there's a bonus. School is blah, I'm having problems getting into the swing of things this term but after staying up all darn night reading I just might catch up yet! lol I'll get through it, I want this to bad to stop now even if I feel like it at times! I seem to get this way at least once per semester but it never happened last semester, maybe I just have too much time on my hands... NOT! lol Keep in touch and all the best to you, thanks for stopping in!

Andy that darn freezing rain, at least you're not getting snow by the truck full there... so that rules it out, they're not moving the snow to your neck of the woods. Yup on my way to bed right now... just have to click sleep and I'm gone to sleep! lol Have a fantastic day, I'll grab a few hours and get back at it!

  6. Oh what a beautiful sight to behold in the morning especially since we're plowing the long driveway again....kind of tough again with the new 8 inches that fell...you bet I WANT/NEED require spring too....I guess old man winter still has packages for the entire country...what to do....think I should buy some of those pretty flowers too...funny I always stop and smell the flowers in the grocery store, and most of them don't have any scent, but they are BEAUTIFUL! Thanks, enjoy your day and wear a flower in your hair today! well maybe not but enjoy them anyway!

  11. Karen, I was a flower browser before as well, never bought them just glazed longingly waiting for my prince charming to send some to me and guess what, I'd still be waiting. I'm worth it and you are as well... so get out there and put some color in your world girlfriend! You go girl! lol There's something about flowers and color that's so therapeutic, it feels good period! I hope your snow disappears in no time at all and at least we're on the back end of winter, not the front end. :-)

Jane, I wish they could move all the snow. Only the main roads are cleared, not the residential ones but good thing I have my faithful G5, this car is amazing. The first time I got stuck was this year, that I can remember anyways. And thank you, I LOVE my flowers, what the heck I am worth the $8.00! ;-)

Pam, that's how much snow we have here, if they don't haul it away this city would be at a standstill, nobody would be going anywhere! And good for you to get yourself flowers, I think that I'm going to make a new habit of this!

  12. Joseph, thank you. There's so much snow now that I don't think that I could even dig my way out of it! Still send it just the same, with no shovel I don't stand a chance. ;-) And to water works? Hmmmm they'd best not or my water is contaminated! ewwww. lol Cheers!

Si, call the City of Edmonton, I'll get the number for you if you'd like and suggest to them that they bring the snow to you, you never know if they might oblige. ;-) And yes, I now have a wee bit of color in my drab world, well not drab in my humble abode with all the painting I've been doing but drab when I look outside. I love it and hope that these flowers will last for at least a week, if not I'm going to go and get some more. That's it, I'm putting my little foot down! Cheers my friend!

  22. When I first pulled up this post, I thought 'Ugh' do I really want to see more snow, when I see it out my window all day long, then you ended with those beautiful flowers!! HaHa I really needed flowers today!!!

  23. Joseph I was sure that I mentioned this on your blog to you, not 100% sure if I posted a link but if you follow this link it'll take you to the page.

You just copy and paste the award, like I did, and list 7 things about yourself that we most likely don't know and you pass the award on to 5 others, it's a lot of fun! I received 2 of these and listed 14 things about myself the passed on to 10 others. You're listed as #8 but that list isn't ranked in any certain order, you're one of my #1's! lol Cheers!

  24. Karen I love the element of surprise! As long as it's not freak me out, scare me sort of surprise. :-) I'm glad that I was able to share my flowers, best $8 I've ever spent!

  26. Awesome Joseph, I've got another award and am trying to think of what else to reveal about myself and still have people talk to me! lol Cheers!

  27. I come to your blog just to cool off a bit, Darlene ;-) Sasha looks longingly at those photos of snow - she misses it (we don't !). I like your top shot - very dramatic, the way you shot it. I think they're just taking it west of the city where they load it into the snowblowing machines, then when it's windy they shoot it in the air and the city gets another 30cm ! That's called ensuring job security ;-)

Those flowers are beautiful - much easier on the eyes than all that white !

Here's to an early spring !

  28. No worries Rick, I go to your blog to warm up! Send Sasha down, I'll take her to the farm and she can play in all the snow she wants. I haven't even been out there this winter, me and winter highways, nope.

And the trucks were headed east, so no job security happening there. I think that the guys/gals are looking forward to down time, they've been working crazy hours.

The flowers you bet they're easy on the eyes, well until I put a super close up shot of one of the orange ones as my desktop background. I've had to switch it to a bunch of the flowers, the brilliant orange was way to much, just BAM right in my face. Too much of a good thing can be dangerous. ;-)

Cheers, take care and I'll see you over at your site.

  29. Hahahaha . . . LOL I am sure that you will find a few that will still dare talking to you . . . Take me for example . . . I am shockproof :-D
