The Indian civilization is one of the oldest in the world. Farmers had begun to build villages in the valleys of the River Indus and the nearby River.

Mohenjo-Daro — like the rest of the Indus Valley Civilization — went into sudden decline for unknown reasons in 1900 BCE. The site was not rediscovered until the 1920s. The city also had several layers to it indicating that it had been destroyed and rebuilt multiple times. Another theory is that the Indus River moved: it’s currently 3 km from the site. Some historians believed the Indus civilisation was destroyed in a large war (as for the Hindu poems called “the Rig Veda” from around 1500…

I hadn't been able to get to the library before starting this chapter, so I didn't supplement with any books, only videos. But really, the main supplement this section needed was a map, which the Activity Book provided. And since this section has SO MANY questions, my child actually did fine with it even without more visuals or other supplements, and when we were finished he was interested to learn more about India. Indus Valley Civilization

Indus Valley Civilization was the first major civilization in south Asia, which spread across a vast area of land in present day India and Pakistan.
