Hyderabadi Food Series Episode 4: Khatti Daal 🍛

Recipe
3/4 cup masoor daal
2 large tomatoes chopped
3 - 4 cloves garlic
3 green chillies
Handful coriander leaves
1 tsp salt
3/4 tsp red chilli powder
3/4 tsp turmeric
1/2 tsp zeera
2 glass water

- Wash & soak the daal in water for 30 minutes
- Now add all the ingredients in a pressure cooker and cook for 15 to 20 minutes on medium low flame till the dal is soft
- Remove from the cooker into a pan and mash the daal well (You can also use a hand blender)
- Add some water to thin out the daal

Handful tamarind
Chopped coriander
2 green chillies

- soak the tamarind in lukewarm water and then mash by hands till smooth

•Soak half cup each of moong and masoor ki daal in enough water for at least 30 mins

•Drain the water and add this soaked daal in a cooking pot and add the following:

1 tsp fresh crushed garlic
1 tbsp Imli pulp
1 tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp kashmiri laal mirch powder
1.5 tsp salt
1/2 tsp chicken powder
1/4 tsp haldi
1 large or 2 medium chopped tomatoes
2 green chillies crushed

•Mix everything and turn the flame on to medium/high and cook until the desired consistency. It takes around 30-40 mins on med-low flame.

Now prepare the tardka as follows:

2-3 tbsp ghee
Half sliced onion
Zeera 1/2 tsp
2 black cardamom
1 tsp kasoori methi crushed
8-10 fresh curry patta
2-3 whole dried red chillies
You can also add fresh Kasoori Methi, Daal Recipes, Chicken Powder, Black Cardamom, Desi Recipes, Sliced Onion, Skincare Lifestyle, Red Chilli Powder, Crushed Garlic
