We provide a lightweight comparative survey of approaches to event modeling in both foundational and semantic web ontologies, and build upon it a tentative system of four categories of what is commonly called 'event'. A substantial part of the categorization has to do with the distinction between an object and an relationship, as conceived in the lightweight ontological background modeling language PURO.
