Magnolia with Distress Markers

Hi Friends!  I know it's Tuesday, but hope you had a nice weekend!  Phew...we had a VERY busy week last week! We were out EVERY NIGHT except for Monday.  I was so happy to be home yesterday (even if we DID order take out!).  I was able to make a few cards over the last few days so this week should be busy on the blog :)

Before I go any further........I want to wish my Bestie CINDY a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!
This virtual cake is for you!   :)

OK!  Here's today's card:

I colored up Tilda with my Distress Markers and if anyone recognizes the sketch layout - I did use one from out there in craftland - but I don't remember from where. The paper is from American Crafts and I added glossy accents to the puddle and the raindrops.

By the way - thanks for all your well wishes for Buddy. He's doing really well, but just a bit itchy in his face since he can't scratch himself! LOL.  Bandages get changed Wednesday and then he's got one more week of the dreaded cone!

Thanks for your visit!

Mojo249 - Distress Marker Tilda

Happy Saturday to you!  I've been playing around with the Distress Markers along with watching videos on You Tube.  I decided to ink up this Magnolia stamp and color her in using the markers.

For the most part, I did the 'scribble on acrylic block' method and then used my aqua painter to color in.  In a few spots I used the 'pen' side to shadow or line draw directly on the image.  This is an additional feature using markers instead of the pads.  I have to try some 'direct to rubber' coloring too as the markers are supposed to be great for that!

Here's a close up of her:

I followed the Mojo Monday Sketch#249 for this layout, but had to put my Hero Arts sentiment on the other side.  Paper is from DCWV 'citrus stack'.

Anniversary Card

Well, now that Frank has been given the anniversary card I made for him, I can now post it on the blog (his Valentine's Day card will be posted tomorrow!!)

It's been a while since I colored up a Magnolia stamp, but I knew I wanted to include this little girl with her apron of hearts for his card.  I also wanted to use the tree because I could personalize the 'heart' carved out in the middle of the tree with our initials.

So, after stamping and masking Tilda and the tree.......the card needed a bit more...so I grabbed my Magnolia fence stamp and added that to the card.  Then.........I lost my desire to make a 'scene'.  I actually put the card away for two days because I just didn't have the umpff to do all this coloring!!!

But, after giving myself a break....I picked it back up and here's the finished card!!
(I encourage you to click on the card - because a much better picture of it will appear). I don't know why Blogger makes my cards blurry :(

So, after all the wishy washiness of making the card.....I absolutely LOVE IT!!!!!!!!   I used my prisma pencils to color in the images and distress inks for the background. I added glossy accents to the hearts in her apron and I finished it with a Papertrey Ink sentiment!

I also cut out and popped up the 'heart' on the tree - that's why there's a shadow cast in the picture!

Hope you're having a great day!!!!!!

WOW - what a card!!!!!!!!!!

Get ready to be WOW-ed!!!!!!!!  Because I was totally WOW-ed by Cindy and Jill's card to me for my birthday.  Cindy made an 'explosion card' with layers!!!!  OUTSTANDING!!!  This will be picture heavy...so here goes!!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!!!!!   Did you catch a peek at the 'Kohl's" coupons in the pictures near the top?  LOL - Cindy and I have a love for Kohl's.  One that my husband gives us a lot of crap for - so I LOVE that she included the coupons in with the card!!!

We are going to bring this and the explosion box I gave to my mom to our craft fair this weekend and see if there is some interest in 'custom orders'.   Cindy's was more involved than mine, because of all the layers, but I think these are truly one-of-a-kind gifts!!!

So.........now I'll go on a little blog break!  I've got a few more things to prepare for the craft fair and juggling the foster dog.  I'll write more about him when I return!!!!

Thanks!!

Thanks for your visit!

SS#22 - Magnolia Birthday Easel Card

For my mom's birthday card, I wanted to try something I hadn't done before and after seeing all of the easel cards going around - I decided that it was what I would use for her card.  I found directions HERE on Splitcoast Stampers.  My mom also loves Magnolia stamps, so I wanted to color up a Tilda for her and after seeing Cheryl's card for Sentimental Sunday's Challenge # 22 to "use dimension"  - I picked Tilda with her flowers.
Here's a close up of the flower dimension:
Lots of different manufacturer's on this card - if you have a question - let me know - or check my 'Labels'.

Tilda's Little Love Note

Tilda has written a little love note to someone............I wonder who she's written to!  This is my last of the three images I colored last week after feeling that I was neglecting my Magnolia stamps.
I just love this plaid paper I used for the background - can't remember who makes it but it's been in my stash for a while. I threaded the ribbon behind Tilda so it 'appears' as if she's sitting on it.  I used a MFT sentiment and punched out three hearts for her little love note. Do I need to mention she's colored with prisma pencils or is that a given by now??

Have a wonderful Wednesday!!!

Tilda with Puppy - Best Friends

Here's one of my favorite Magnolia stamps - Tilda with her puppy.  If you're a blog follower (or one of my friends) you know how much I love dogs - so this stamp is perfect for me to have in my stamp 'collection' (or addiction??).
Tilda is colored with prisma pencils on Bella's Bestest paper.  I created a log for her to sit on with PTI's wood impression plate. I used my Cuttlebug swirl embossing folder too and a MFT sentiment. I finished it off with a bone paper clip. The paper is from Chatterbox that I bought a looooooooooooong time ago.

Thanks for stopping in today!!! Have a great day!!!

My Neglected Magnolias

My poor Magnolia stamps have been neglected for a few months! I had the guilts going on - so last Friday I stamped out a few images and colored them in.  So for the next few days - I'll show some of the cards I made!

This is Tilda with tulips that I colored in with prisma pencils and gamsol on Stamping Bella's Bestest Paper.
I cut her out and placed her on a stitched tag that came with a paper pack I bought a while ago. On the Totally Tilda Challenge Blog - the challenge is to use stitching on your card. Well, since I don't have a sewing machine and thought faux stitching wouldn't stand out on this card, I took the easy route and used the tag that had the stitching on it!
Everything else is pretty bland on the card - not sure why I didn't add any other details, but I guess I'll save the card and add a sentiment in the future!

Hope you had a great weekend and are having a great Monday so far!!!

Tilda with Puppy

Happy Friday! Wow -this week went by REALLY quickly and I'm not sure I really accomplished anything! (Except coloring six of these Tildas!!) I colored up Tilda and the wall with prisma pencils and blended with gamsol. I stamped the clouds by making my own cloud template out of cardstock and sponging it. It is a really easy technique that I will definitely use again.

I used a Sizzix label die cut and stamped a Hero Arts sentiment and added some buttons with twine. Tilda is popped up on the wall as well!
Thanks for swinging by today!!!

SSS37 - Tilda with Puppy

Hello! Well, I've FINALLY finished coloring up the SIX Tilda's that I stamped out on Sunday and have turned them into cards. I'm not sure why I put so much pressure on myself to stamp so many and then color them all!?! Yikes! Not a great way to start the New Year...but maybe I'll learn from this first card in 2010!

I made this card using the Sweet Shop Sketch # 37. I colored up Tilda with her puppy using my prisma pencils and gamsol. I colored up three Tildas with this color scheme and another three using a different color scheme. I'll post that card tomorrow.

I used my Cuttlebug Swiss Dots for the background, some scallop and circle punches with a Hero Arts "Hello" stamp. Lastly I used some bling and ribbon. Thanks for stopping by today!

Magnolia & Birthday Wishes

Here is a Magnolia card I made about a week ago and never uploaded. I tried to create a scene for this card. I stamped the tree on the card and colored in with prisma pencils and gamsol. Then I embossed the tree with clear embossing powder so I could sponge the sky. I created the grassy area (which I'm not too pleased with - but I'm still practicing). Lastly, I cut out the bench and Tilda and propped Tilda up on pop dots. No sentiment yet for the card...It will go in my "not finished" pile!!!
Secondly, I want to wish my Mom a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY today!!! Here we are at a fundraising event in May of this year. She's always available to help out anytime you need her. She wrapped about 25 gift baskets for this event and came early to help set up the dinner event!
Love you and wish you a terrific day!!!!!

Tilda with Birdcage

Here's an image I received from a "Tilda" swap - isn't she cute holding her little parrot?
Tilda is cut out with my Nesties oval die and colored with prisma pencils and gamsol and accented with a glitter pen and glitter. The sentiment is from Studio G. I added the ribbon and some "bling".

On a side note: I want to wish my dad a very HAPPY 71st Birthday today!! Yah!!

Tilda with Cherries

Here is a semi-quick card I made last week and forgot to post. I believe I received this image through a swap and colored it in about a month ago. When I was coloring it, I noticed Tilda had cute little cherries on her boots. I didn't have anything else "cherries" in my stock - so when I attended a stamp convention in July, I picked up a DeNami cherry stamp, which I used for the background. Tilda is sitting on some ribbon and the sentiment is from Stampendous.
Tilda and the cherries are colored with prisma pencils and gamsol. Thanks for visiting!

Two Project Tuesday

Good Morning! Today I'm posting two cards I completed yesterday. The first one is my first Unity Stamps card. This set is called Shine On. I don't know why I was drawn to it, but I really liked the lamp shades!!

Once again, here's another Magnolia stamp. I received this through an image swap and think Tilda is so adorable holding her balloons!
Both cards are colored with prisma pencils and blended with gamsol. Both cards also started out as Mojo Monday sketches, but I kept straying from the sketch because my images were too large. Maybe I'll try it again today. Thanks for looking!! Maria

CPS Monday Sketch

Happy Monday! I hope everyone enjoyed their 4th of July weekend. Here in CT - we had gorgeous weather - finally!! I (Maria) took the weekend off from blog posting, but worked on this card below last night for this week's CPS123 Card Sketch. I used Stemma paper with ribbon I bought at Costco about a year ago. The sentiment is from MFT and Tilda is colored with prisma pencils and gamsol. The doggies looked so nice in their festive bandannas this weekend, that I took a few shots of them. Here's Lily:
Here's Nolie:
And here's Tango - our foster dog:
Thanks for looking! Have a great day!

Another Magnolia.......

I colored up another Magnolia stamp on Sunday and created this card of the SCS Sketch Challenge 167. I like how the green and pink came out. The background pink is VERY vibrant, but the Memory Box paper tones it down a bit. Her hearts have a bunch of glitter on them, but not sure if you can see it in the picture. I used the Cuttlebug swirls, MFT sentiment, ribbon and used the "out of the box" technique on "Tilda" coming off the circle! She's colored with prisma pencils and gamsol. Thanks for looking!

"Just Magnolia" Birthday Card

Happy Monday everyone! Hope you had a great weekend and are looking forward to the 4th of July! Here's a card I made following the Just Magnolia Week 11 Sketch. My friend's daughter (and my God-daughter) celebrates her birthday on the July 3rd so I wanted her to have a red/white/blue birthday card.I used my new Tilda with hearts and colored her with prisma pencils and gamsol. I used Cuttlebug swiss dots and circle embossing folder. Sentiment from MFT. Ribbon I bought from Michael's last year and embellished with Stampendous cupcakes and a few bling rhinestones. Thanks for looking!

Wednesday Triplet!

Happy Wednesday night everyone! Here's another 3-project post - but not all done by "Crafty Creations"

The first one is done by me (Maria) using Tilda with Puppy stamp. She's colored with prisma pencils and blended with gamsol. The sentiment is from Inkadinkado and the paper is from DCWV. I used Nesties and Cuttlebug swiss dots embossing folder. I love this sentiment!
Card number two started as the CPS sketch challenge for this week, but I couldn't get it to look how I wanted it, so I abandoned the sketch challenge and went off on my own. But...I had a "guest" artist in the house....my mom Lois! She colored in the stamp as I put the card together! Didn't she do a great job! The stamp is from Lockhart, the sentiment from Autumn Leaves, Happy Birthday paper from DCWV and I used Nesties and Cuttlebug circles embossing folder.
Lastly...but definitely NOT LEAST....is a GORGEOUS "Garden Cake" made by my cousin Carl in Washington DC. Isn't it awesome? He actually held a "bake sale" at his desk at work as a fundraiser for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and he raised $750.00!! I'm so proud of him and I just LOVE looking at (and eating) his creations!! Great job Carl!!! (Make sure to click on the picture for an up close shot of all the veggies on the cake!)
If you got this far....thanks for reading!!
