Although several studies have investigated the effects of unethical behaviours on project performance, research in the Ghanaian construction industry (GCI) remains scant. Consequently, this research assesses the interactive effects of ethical and unethical behaviours of construction professionals on project performance in the GCI.Design/methodology/approachA quantitative research approach was used to obtain primary data from 68 construction professionals, viz, quantity surveyors, architects, civil engineers, clerk of works and project managers, via a closed-ended questionnaire survey. Quantitative method was used, and a census and convenience sampling techniques were adopted to distribute and collect data at a response rate of 74.60% from employees in the construction industry in the Kumasi Metropolis. Responses were assessed based on the significance level of the employee’s mindset behaviour on project performance using descriptive analysis, and the reliability of the scale was checked using Cronbach’s Alpha Coefficient. Six mindset elements, namely; employee commitment, employee involvement, job satisfaction, employee lateness, employee theft, and employee absenteeism were selected to ascertain their significance level on Project Performance. The study affirmed that the positive effect of employees’ job satisfaction, involvement and commitment to work leads to project performance. The study, therefore, contributed to knowledge by assessing the linkages between employees’ mindset and project performance, and also to the existing body of knowledge to aid and guide researchers in the adoption of appropriate theoretical framework in conducting research on the relationship between employee’s mindset behaviour and project performance. Green building (GB) is a key mitigation and adaptation measure in the Nationally Determined Contr... more Green building (GB) is a key mitigation and adaptation measure in the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) of Parties to the Paris Agreement. This paper explores the potential of green finance (GF) to support country efforts to shift from conventional construction to GB and to promote green renovations in existing buildings (GREB) within the context of the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement. Through a meta-synthesis of new or updated country NDCs, we provide, first, a comprehensive qualitative overview of country perspectives on GF-in-GB needs. Second, we examine the role of domestic finance, international financial support, and fiscal policy reforms toward GB and GREB implementation. Finally, the role of financing actors in promoting GF-in-GB-and-GREB is discussed. This paper aims to identify the latent shortcomings affecting the achievement of value for money (VfM) within the Ghanaian construction industry. Design/methodology/approach From a comprehensive literature review and pilot survey, 18 variables responsible for the non-achievement of VfM were identified. Through purposive and snowballing sampling techniques, a questionnaire was administered to the target professionals. Factor analysis was used to establish the latent shortcomings underlying the same dimensions of VfM achievement in the Ghanaian construction industry.
