File:Greenpeace1.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.) Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Re: Bogus deletion request
[edit]Hi, in the link that you provided I read:
- "Any other use (such as using images for personal or corporate gain) require permission from Greenpeace International Photo and Video Library (contact information appears below)."
So, the license is not compatible with Commons license conditions, since there should be no restriction of use for commercial purposes. You affirm that you got in touch with Greenpeace and they agreed. It that is the case, you should go through this process to get that agreement offizialised. --Poco a poco (talk) 21:29, 26 February 2012 (UTC)
Greenpeace images
[edit]I rang Greenpeace and they said that their images can be used for Wikipedia. Their Copyright rules are very clear. How dare someone delete images from Greenpeace based on a bogus copyright agreement which does not even exist!! I am very upset that these images have been deleted for no reason. They are Greenpeace1.jpg and Greenpeace2.jpg. Please restore them and the pages that they were used on. I don't want a debate about this. There is no debate. Thank you.
By the way, Greenpeace will write officially to Wikipedia and inform Wikipedia that can use all Greenpeace images. So I do not expect this sort of treatment again against Greenpeace or me. Wallie (talk) 15:55, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
- Hi, I understand that you are frustrated by the deletion of these 2 files but the rules are the rules, and as long as there is nothing else than that webpage from Greenpeace these files don't belong to this project. The licenses are not compatible although to you it could look like the Greenpeace license are generous enough. Actually, they are more generous than most licenses but not generous enough for Wikimedia (sorry!!).
Anyhow, if Greenpeace gets in touch with the coleagues from Commons:OTRS and agree on the terms of the Wikimedia lincense for their media, the problem would not only be solved, but in addition it would be a great step for the project!. If you want to look for a second opinion, please, pick up an administrator from this list, they all know the licenses and policies very good, and could actually restore the files. I cannot do that because I don't have admin rights. Regards, --Poco a poco (talk) 19:10, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
- I am sorry to hear that. It is not about me or my mood, or even the supporters, but rather the rules of the game, and respecting the licenses is probably the most important rule in Commons. Poco a poco (talk) 21:25, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Wallie. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Wallie~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell

File:Stoatslogo1.png has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |
