User talk:Vonvon
Hi Vonvon! When you are copying an image from e.g. the English Wikipedia please give the correct author if you don't do any changes to the picture. If you upload a modified version, you may place both the original author and you yourself as author. Thanks. --Matt314 15:15, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
Welcome
[edit]
Our first steps help file and our FAQ will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy. You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki ‒ it is really easy. More information is available at the Community Portal. You may ask questions at the Help desk, Village Pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons. You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at Commons talk:Licensing. |

[edit]I screwed up and accidentally overwrote your pic (I thought I was overwriting mine). I tried to restore it, but was unable to. Feel free to re-overwright mine. Let me know what you think (they're both good pictures; yours is a great live shot, mine's a decent portrait). Thanks, Jlantzy (talk) 03:46, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
Vandalism work :)
[edit]Thanks, appreciated. Equally if you are working on Categories here (& much work is needed!) you may wish to look at "my preferences" (Préférences) ->"gadgets"->"Hot Cat" which is useful .js that allows quick changing of categories. Regards --Herby talk thyme 12:12, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
How to tag nonsense pages
[edit]I noticed you blanked a nonsense page Diana dukhovna. This was good, but it'd be better to add the {{Speedy}} tag (with a reason, like "vandalism/newbie test") so a admin/janitor can find it and clean it up. It's also good to check the user's contribs for any other problems; in this case, I found another nonsense page e had created. Thanks for your work, in any case. 75.214.74.91 (really, w:User:JesseW/not logged in) 07:57, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
- You are quite welcome. Keep on keeping on! JesseW (talk) 07:28, 19 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit]I'll think about changing the license... I can't understand why wikimedia needs to have the pictures licensed to allow "commercial use"? / Dreamingtree (talk) 10:27, 21 December 2008 (UTC)
Rollback
[edit]Hello, I noticed some good reverts by you. Would you be interested in having rollback? It's quite useful for vandalism work, even if you don't do this stuff all day. Let me know. --The Evil IP address (talk) 09:58, 12 December 2009 (UTC)
Welcome, Dear Patroller !
[edit]Hi Vonvon !
You now have the Patroller right and may call yourself a patroller ! Please take a moment to read the updated Commons:Patrol to learn how Patrolling works and how we use it to fight vandalism.
As might know already, the patrolling functionality has been enabled for all edits, no longer just for page creations. This enables us to keep track of, for example, edit made by anonymous users on Commons.
We could use you help at the Counter Vandalism Unit. For example by checking an Anonymous edits checklist and patrol a day-part. There is a short video tutorial which addresses some things you may not know.
If you have any questions please leave a message on the CVU talkpage, my talkpage or on IRC. –Krinkletalk 16:58, 28 March 2010 (UTC)
I was not joking
[edit]Hi,
you asked me if I'm joking. I was not. Looking at the picture, I saw a female and not a male. And as I've been categorizing lots of vocalists from Turkey, I've not had time to look up the Wikipedia entry for each one of them. Thank you for correcting my mistake. Critically evaluate Flickr licenses
|
File:Caterina Murino 2009.jpg has been marked as a copyright violation. You may have preserved the information shown on Flickr correctly when transferring the image here, but the Flickr uploader is not the copyright holder of this image. Either the image was created by someone else, or it is a derivative of someone else's work. As stated in Commons:Licensing, only the copyright holder may issue a license, so the one shown on Flickr is invalid.
Always remember to critically evaluate Flickr licenses. Photostreams with professional-looking photographs, album covers, posters, and images in a wide range of styles or quality taken by many different cameras often indicate that the Flickr uploader either does not understand or does not care about copyright matters. See Commons:Questionable Flickr images for a list of known bad Flickr users.

Question
[edit]Hi, can you please explain this? --Elitre (talk) 21:09, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
- Right now it's ok for me. More than the ego of the donor I would point that sometimes a category under his/her name is useful not much for the attribution requirement, but more as a sign of gratitude for having changed a license and donated contents. Thanks for your answer :) --Elitre (talk) 15:37, 7 October 2012 (UTC)
