Our first steps tour and our FAQ will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy. You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki—it is really easy. More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (direct access). Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 03:08, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

File:Leach pottery-soup bowl.JPG has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

Images of people where consent or personality rights may be an issue
[edit]When you upload a photo of a person which you created (and in some cases when you upload a photo of a person where you did not create the photo) please consider using either the Consent or Personality rights template.
As a precaution, I added query to File:Tristan Stephenson.JPG. Please provide a more appropriate parameter. Thanks. Davidwr (talk) 19:30, 13 September 2015 (UTC)
Hello, Theroadislong, I hope you are doing well. Just dropping a note that I have speedy closed your deletion request because deletion on the grounds that "promotes deeply offensive gun use" is not in accordance with the Commons:Deletion policy. If you have any questions, I am happy to answer them. Riley Huntley (talk) 04:58, 30 April 2016 (UTC)
Terriffic Dunker Guy on Wikipedia should not be blocked
[edit]The user Terriffic Dunker Guy on Wikipedia should not be blocked. I am a good editor, follow guidelines and policies and uses good sentences and keeps up on using no errors in its sentences. I can fix some sentences where available. Where there is an article that has a very few errors, it needs to be fixed, I will fix it, or one or two different users. A request for the user not to be blocked on Wikipedia, already made my discussions and explanations on my talk page. After I return, I may get some more protection from another user for making me continuing to follow the guidelines. Also, when I am on an editing break that is about two or three weeks, sometimes one that is a vacation, I should get some more protection from another user for the same thing of following the guidelines as well as correct and proper spelling. Also I should hav put a template named Wikibreak on my user page. Thanks. Terriffic Dunker Guy (talk) 20:13, 13 July 2018 (UTC)
A request for Terriffic Dunker Guy to become an administrator on Wikipedia
[edit]I hav made a request for an application to become an administrator on Wikipedia, I may be also become administrator on Commons and Wiktionary. Article reads alongside some edits but in good English language spelling, included, some of my edits that I made at Google Maps (outside Wikimedia as well as Open Street Map) as I am a user there but recently less active than I was a few years ago. My planned application to become and administration is kept. When it is approved, notify me if I become a first level administrator on Wikipedia, but not yet for Commons and Wiktionary.
