You claim this photo comes from the United States Government. To me this looks like a photo from Manson's arrest by the county sheriff's office. Do you have any source for claiming this is a government photo? Thuresson 14:13, 31 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

It was statet at en:Image:Charles Manson.jpg by the user I mentioned there. Are sheriff's pictures not PD, too? --Flominator 14:20, 31 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, could you perhaps explain why you claim this is GFDL and CC? The Universal-Photo website do not seem to use those licenses, in fact they sell their photos for money. Thuresson 08:07, 4 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Because I asked the autor, if we could use it under those licenses. Why else would we have version in a higher resolution than the UP-Website? --Flominator 09:59, 4 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Travemünde

[edit]

Godewind 17:17, 24 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Cities in Germany

[edit]

-- skINMATE 22:44, 12 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you change the category to France? It is written in French but is about Germany... Maybe I should create a category French books though. Justinc 15:52, 9 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I did it because I didn't know where to put it while I was trying to keep an empty Category:Germany. What is it about? --Flominator 21:35, 9 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Ah fair enough. Its a bit of a hybrid, its from the French translation of the first German-language encyclopaedia. The page in question is about Germany though, winemaking in Stuttgart, which is why I put it under Germany, but maybe it should just be classified as an encyclopaedia... Justinc 21:46, 9 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe you can write a rough summary in english and put it into Category:Stuttgart, Germany. That would be great. --Flominator 21:50, 9 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

FlickrLickr Kategorien

[edit]

Hallo Flominator!

--Flominator 08:11, 24 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Commons-Category:Braunschweig, Germany vs. Category:Braunschweig

[edit]

Hallo!

-- skINMATE 20:03, 22 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like it is all sorted out now. Jkelly 23:11, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
What about this one?

Why have you deleted Image:Wikibooks-logo-en.png? It is a logo, used by other projects and it is NOT REDUNDANT TO THE SVG! It is NOT the WIKIBOOKS LOGO! Now please find some correct logo, and place it BACK! I also would like to know if you are the user who did this. This probably commons user created that account because nl.wm cannot be edited without, under a false name, as non-existing, replaced the image there. I reverted, and gave a warning. He didn't respond, and re-reverted me today. Without giving a notice who he is.

People like you (and DingDong) are making sure people are fleeding from commons. Thank you for that. People like you are making the climate here impossible, as we, wikians, have to fight to an overwhelming power that DOESN't LISTEN. People like you let me loose my last part of trust in Wikimedia Commons. People like you make sure I will not upload to commons, and maybe even copy all images i use to the local wiki. People like you make sure that happens on dozens of wiki's. Just to be sure it isn't deleted under your nose. People like you make Wikimedia suck. thank you! Effeietsanders 21:50, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What about Image:Wikibooks-logo.svg? --Flominator 07:49, 2 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
As i tried to explain, it is NOT the same. Take a look at a wikibooks, and check the logo on the upper left. And be astonished you deleted an image that WAS correctly, in favor of an image that IS NOT, and surely not the same. You were for sure not paying attention, and that is exactly the stereotype of commons-admin that is becoming knows in the past months on nl.wikipedia. You confirm that that kind of admins exist. And I doubt for sure that if you delete such an important logo for the wikimedia-wiki's, you must have deleted other non-redundant images too. You make sure people cannot trust Wikimedia Commons. And that you now still point at that svg, i'm sorry, but then you must really have a lot of dirt in your eyes. The color is totally different of the most above book, the letters are different, etc. IT IS NOT THE SAME! Effeietsanders 08:11, 2 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
If you would have taken a LOOK at http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:Wikibooks-logo.svg , you would have seen compare:... and would have seen that it wasn't the same. I can only conclude you don't check the svg if it is indeed the same. Effeietsanders 08:12, 2 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Schaengel89 asked me to delete it. Since he always used to provide solid work, I didn't doubt him. The other SVG-images where ok, so I thought that this one was too. I'm really sorry for my mistake. --Flominator 08:35, 2 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You should doubt shaengel89 more however. He is known for his png-svg pushing, and he often pushesit when it shouldn't. (Also with flags, coa's etc) He has already done a lot of damage in the past... And please always doubt people when you are deleting an image. Always check and doublecheck. You cannot take it back. Effeietsanders 08:43, 2 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've been working with him for over half a year and I didn't have any troubles with him. But on the other hand I wasn't that much into the SVG-business either. Since nobody complained I thought that it was ok. I was about to e-mail the original uploader to have him upload the file again, so thank you for uploading the older version again. --Flominator 08:49, 2 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The verion i uploaded is a worse version, as it is not as exact in number of pixels etc (damn, what is that word...) I notified the original designer on wikibooks and requested him to see if he has a better verion. Could you maybe see to recover the history of the file somehow? Now i seem to be the uploader, and that is not correct of course. Further i have now uploaded a version without the text, so it is not fully correct. I just put this temporarily there, as it is been used on nl.wikimedia.org . Effeietsanders 09:28, 2 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Effeietsanders, I really wonder about the reason for your anger... In fact, it couldn't really be the logo! It's right, I am the one that replaced the logo. And in fact, it's not the first one I replaced and nevertheless, it won't be the last image, as you can see on my user page when you find time between your tirades against Florian and my person. The logo has been changed on more than 20 pages of 15 different projects, but funnily enough, somebody is there and tries to let me belief, image-replacing makes people run away from wikimedia commons! apart from this unconscionable lie, you force both us to roll back my work. I say: "Nonsense", what it is, actually. What do you think, effeietsanders, will anybody revolt after looking on one simply page (http://nl.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikibooks) because the pages uses an SVG, that doesn't look exactly like the old PNG? Will this person even realize the difference among those two images? If I wouldn't be a moralist, I'd think you are a fanactic. Regards, Schaengel89 10:20, 2 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If I read well, you admit you are the same as DingDong. And that is even worse, as making sure you cannot be talked with, hiding for critisism, is a bad thing. You don't quite understand what i say, that is clear. Or you just don't give a damn shit.
I tell you and told you before that you replace images that are correct but png by incorrect svg. That is simply falsification of data. That is vandalism. As easy as that. Especially when you do it on purpose, even more when you are told to stop it, and you just do it again without further notice on that talkpage. (http://nl.wikimedia.org/wiki/overleg_gebruiker:Ding_Dong) The svg was incorrect, and you just ignore that fact, You just say it's close, and i don't give a shit people want to have it correct. I'm sorry, but people are working on encyclopedeae, dictionaries etc. They should use the correct version. Or at least you should let them use the version they think is correct. Leave the choise to them.
You say I am a fanatic, I say you are. You are replacing systematicly flags, coa's, logo's by svg's. Even after people asked you several times to stop that. Often you do that anonymously, or now even under a false name. But the image is lot's of times not the same. Thát is the true problem. If it is not the same, don't ask for deletion, that is not the commons policy. Projects should be able to make the choise themselves. People like you show people that the policy of commons doesn't mention a thing. You show them, that their effords to create a correct image, or to find out which one is correct (it took people hours sometimes) are not safe here. That they risk to be deleted in favor of an incorrect svg. Effeietsanders 22:55, 2 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Commons-l subscription

[edit]

Hello Flominator,

as per Commons talk:Administrators, I am asking all admins to subscribe to commons-l, a mailing list for Wikimedia Commons policy and project discussion. Since many admins are only on Commons infrequently, this is a good way to alert people about important happenings. The mailing list is nominally multilingual, but predominantly English.

If you are already subscribed to commons-l, I apologize for bothering you, and you are free to ignore this message. If you don't want to use your regular e-mail account, feel free to leave me a message, and I can send you a GMail invite. Traffic on the mailing list is relatively low, and we do not expect admins to read all messages to the list, but it would be nice if you could check on it at least every few weeks. Thanks for your time,--Eloquence 23:02, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Löschvorgänge hier in den Commons

[edit]

Hallo,

Image:Wreck in the Sea of Ice.jpg

Augiasstallputzer

Hab gelöscht, was ich konnte.

Hi,
I tried to provide a solution that would work independantly of this issue:
  • Commons:Deletion requests (policy level)
    • Commons:Deletion requests/list (list level, with only date sections)
      • Commons:Deletion requests/items (item level, each item has the name of the object subject to deletion request)
I realize just after updating my test page that it is no use to change this: any subpage that is linked from a template is seen from the calling page as a subpage of the calling page. Example:
  • page1 includes template2
  • template2 links to subpage3
=> when viewing page1, you'll see subpage3 as a subpage of page1, not of template2.
Now I wonder what happens when you edit directly template2. Are the links to subpages pointing to subpages of page2 or page1? :/
=> they point to subpages of template2... :(

Gefälschte Freigabe

[edit]

Hallo Flominator,

Been there, done that. --Flominator 17:06, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

If you consent for statistics to be published about your actions as an administrator, please sign here: Commons:Administrator permission for statistics. (I expect that most people will not have a problem with it unless you are especially concerned with privacy.)

Also, please be aware that we now have a Commons:Administrators' noticeboard. Please put it on your watchlist, if you haven't already!

Hi Flominator.

This image is marked as © in flickr.

I was writing you asking you if you were sure about the license but i already found in the Google cache it really was Cc-by-sa-2.0

If you uploaded more photos from that space, you should check if the license changed and notice it on the page. You may also want to show evidence to another user before the google cache expires.

Cities in Germany - Category:München, Germany | Munich | Munich

[edit]

Spanish Revolution images

[edit]

Hi,Flominator. I've noticed that you have been deleting many images that I uploaded, most of them related to the Spanish Revolution and Civil War. I have reasons to believe the photographs should be all undeleted:

  • According to the present Spanish Law, the Intellectual Property Rights of the authors of simple photographs will last for 25 years starting from the 1st of January of the year after the photograph or reporduction has been taken.
    • "Simple photographs" are those which represent reality as it is without any creative or intellectual effort

http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Licensing#Spain

I hope you can help me with this. I don't know exactly how to make undeletion requests, and I don't mean to start a deletion/undeletion war.

Best wishes, Mr.Rocks 00:39, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

P.S.: Also, you deleted Image:Mlacerda.png, and this image is older than 70 years. Can you give me a reason why? Mr.Rocks 00:45, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Mlacerda.png was deleted because the author is not known, so the picture has to be 100 years old. Image:36enfant ballester.jpg was deleted, because there was no source or year of origin given. The rest of the reasons can be found here. Regards, --Flominator 12:05, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Image:Mlacerda.png was published in Brazil, and hence is subject to Brazilian law, which states:
Art. 43. The term of protection of economic rights in anonymous or pseudonymous works shall be 70 years counted from the first of January of the year following that of the first publication. Mr.Rocks 01:32, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Dodo, who marked the picture with nld asked there: “If the copyright owner was Maria Lacerda de Moura and she died in 1945, are you sure the photo has already fallen under public domain?” --Flominator 14:32, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure either, but I restored it and nominated it for deletion now. Please contribute your POV at Commons:Deletion requests/Image:Mlacerda.png. --Flominator 14:39, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've created a copyright tag for the Brazilian Copyright Law PD-Brazil-media and placed it in Image:Mlacerda.png. Flominator, could you please undelete Maria Lacerda de Moura? Cheers, Mr.Rocks 19:52, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, done. --Flominator 20:33, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Berlinare Flickr photos by Howie Berlin

[edit]

I have deleted them in good faith because:

  1. The original sources have CC-BY-NC-ND 2.0 licenses, imcompactible here.
  2. The extra permission limit the heights and widths.
  3. You have not talked at Commons:Deletion requests/Berlinare Flickr photos by Howie Berlin and no one else argues for their retentions or replacements for long time.
  4. Thanks to a developer, deleted images may now be undeleted.

I just found that alternate photos are available at [4], but no one else placed the photos here. I can undelete the photos with thier page history in one condition, i.e. the photos have to be reuploaded with CC-BY-SA 2.0 to replace those with CC-BY-NC-ND 2.0. Instead of further deletions, I will try to replace these photos and restore local images. If you want to undelete, please replace the licensing information as well.--Jusjih 13:45, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Replied at your talk page. --Flominator 14:26, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
In addition to a reply at my talk page, the deletion discussion has arguments that extra permissions were meant for Wikipedia only, but still not good enough. I am undeleting deleted images with their descriptions to have nww uploads. If I cannot find free-use replacements, I may want to undelete them but have them tagged pending free-use replacement.--Jusjih 14:34, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
More admins are voting to delete Berlinare Flickr photos by Howie Berlin. If you disagree their deletions, you should go to Commons:Deletion requests/Berlinare Flickr photos by Howie Berlin to speak out as soon as you can as I will not make further deletions myself after meeting you. Wheel wars involving admin vs admin are considered destructive.--Jusjih 16:24, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much for telling me. I didn't want to start a wheel war. I didn't even know about the DR when I restored the pictures. I just thought that you weren't able to find the license on flickr and deleted them without reading the commentary. Meanwhile I changed my mind - you did the right thing. The only one who really made a mistake was the person who requested the deletion without putting DRs into the pictures. --Flominator 18:08, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Flickr regexes

[edit]

Oops, almost forgot about that one :)

Here they are:

flickrs = (\
    re.compile(r'.*?(?:http\:\/\/www\.)?flickr\.com\/photos\/([0-9]*?\@[^ \n\t\|\=\&\/]*?)\/\/?([0-9][0-9]*).*', re.S + re.I),
    re.compile(r'.*?(?:http\:\/\/www\.)?flickr\.com\/photos\/([^ \n\t\|\=\&\/]*?)\/\/?([0-9][0-9]*).*', re.S + re.I),
    re.compile(r'.*?(?:http\:\/\/www\.)?flickr\.com\/photo_zoom\.gne\?id\=()([0-9][0-9]*).*', re.S + re.I),
    re.compile(r'.*\{\{Flickr.*?()photo_id.??\=.??([0-9]*).*?', re.S + re.I),
)

The regexes have two groups, author and photo_id. Author is only there if it is available in this kind link. I also am quite sure that I have a fifth regex somewhere on my harddrive, but I can't find it. I will look for it. The regexes use Python's regex syntax. -- Bryan (talk to me) 12:54, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Could you review the above image. Thanks in advance. FellowWikipedian 21:38, 2 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I was too late. But I will ask the author of the picture, if he wants to change the license. --Flominator 09:05, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Is there any problem with this image?? It seems to me the image is taken from website? But license is confusing. Do you think it should be deleted?--NAHID 21:18, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The license could not be clearly understood. Either the creator forwards an email to [email protected] or we delete it. The source website seems to have copied its stuff from all over the web, as well. Since I found no email address there, I didn't email them. --Flominator 06:50, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Image deletion warning Image:Charles Manson.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file.

Just for your information, this is not a "steam tractor", but a portable engine. It has to be towed, it has no way of moving itself, so it should really be in the Steam machinery section.--John of Paris 18:39, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I know that it isn't capable of moving but the interwiki at de:Lokomobil suggested en:Steam tractor as translation. Is that wrong? --Flominator 19:23, 24 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well a tractor is something that pulls something isn't it? Portables were towed on site by oxen, horses or later a tractor to do temporary stationary work, such as threshing in the Summer and working circular wood saws at other times (They were usually hired by contractors.), so you may as well put your pic it in the Steam machinery section where there is already another portable waiting for a mate. I'll keep a lookout for any other strays. Best wishes, --John of Paris 08:46, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipediatroll

[edit]

Unterlasse also bitte in Zukunft, kreative Projekte zu gefährden.

Also war beim WP Troll rechtlich alles in Ordnung. mfg Torsten Schleese 05:19, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

--Flominator 12:43, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:CampinoFernsehturm7.6.97.JPG. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use cc-by-sa-2.5 to release it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license or PD-self to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Hi. I was doing some admin work at en Wikipedia and ran across en:Image:Nightwish Juhannus.jpg. It was listed for deletion as a copy of Image:NightwishJune2005.jpg. Now I notice a few problems:

So, I don't know where Image:NightwishJune2005.jpg actually came from or why it is less blurry than en:Image:Nightwish Juhannus.jpg. I also don't know what happened to the Flickr picture that you approved. With an inaccurate source for the less blurry image here, it seems like it should be deleted, right? From what I'm able to gather from this, the photos are not free to use. And the text on de-user Pascalre's page doesn't seem to be any kind of permission, it's just a link to his webpage with a comment on when the photos were taken. --Lumijaguaari (моє обговорення) 14:08, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hello again. I reverted your changes to the image page to reflect that there still isn't a permission that can be verified. If de:Benutzer:Pascalre is the author of these images like he claims to be, you can ask him permission by email and then send it to [email protected]. On page email templates (auf Deutsch: Emailvorlagen) you can see various ready-made emails to be used when requesting permission. --Lumijaguaari (моє обговорення) 14:18, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The OTRS pending template should only be added on a page when the reply email has been received from the author and sent to the OTRS. Has he replied? If he has, has he authorized the use of this picture only or the whole bunch of pics on his website? regards, --Lumijaguaari (моє обговорення) 20:43, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Output of the Flinfo tool: two proposals

[edit]

Hi, and thanks for making your flinfo tool available. I'd like to propose two formatting changes in the output:

1) I suggest changing the placement of the licencing tags from this format:

...
Licensing
flickrreview
...

to this one:

{{Information
...
|Permission=flickrreview
...

In my opinion, making the licencing tags part of the description box gives a less cluttered layout.

2) I suggest stripping the image title from the source link, like this:

...
|Source=http://www.flickr.com/photos/13091127@N00/1314053915
...

instead of the current output:

...
|Source=My Cool Image Title
...

Because many Flickr images do not carry a very useful title, and we provide a new one on upload in any case, just seeing the (still-clickable) URL is more informative, IMHO. Among other things, it allows the identification of the image on printouts of the description page.

For an example of the proposed format, see Image:Yangtze at First Bridge.jpg. Thanks, Sandstein 10:28, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sandstein, thanks for your message and sorry for not replying earlier. (1) I used to put license tags in template:information as well, but I was told not to do it. (2) The name on the Flickr page shows how the creator labeled the file. I think that this is good to know, even some may be rubbish. --Flominator 10:38, 29 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lizenz Flickr

[edit]

Danke schonmal. Gruß --тнояsтеn 18:05, 20 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Beyond silence, the problem is, that I was not able to find someone with access to OTRS that understands Hungarian. I will restore it with the copyvio, but I can't guaranty, that it won't be deleted again. The easiest the thing would be, if the author changed the license within flickr. Here is how to do it. Regards, --Flominator 12:34, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You are not right. You didn't read the discussion page yet, I see: [5] My mailing with the author was English, because he is English too. But I will ask him to write the ost system's letter sample or change the flickr license. Give us somemany time! Thanks --Beyond silence 22.5px 13:29, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Universal replace

[edit]

I'm sorry, but I won't implement such a function. I think that we should not replace images on local wikis that are not on Commons.

[edit]

Dear user, I noticed that you use the includePage function in your monobook.js page.

This function is now obsolete, as the importScript function was introduced with rev:35064 to the MediaWiki Javascript core library wikibits.js. It also keeps track of already imported files.

To allow us to remove includePage from Mediawiki:Common.js I'd kindly ask you to replace its use with importScript (same syntax!). Thanks! --Dschwen 17:03, 22 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Jede Menge Fragen

[edit]

Wärst du so lieb...?

Notice of namespace-rename "Image" -> "File"

[edit]

Dear user, the MediaWiki developers recently announced that the "Image:" namespace is going to be renamed to "File:". "Image:" will remain an alias. The canonical namespace name wgCanonicalNamespace will change from "Image" to "File".

I noticed that you use wgCanonicalNamespace in either your monobook.js page or a JavaScript file in your userspace (check this list).

Please check and replace all occurrences of

wgCanonicalNamespace == "Image"

with

wgNamespaceNumber == 6

to ensure that your scripts keep working. Thanks! --Dschwen (talk) 18:41, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Abuse in deletion

[edit]

Hello, I would like to know why one of my creations has been deleted COA of Kingdom of Morocco. No one has reported or commented anything wrong or ask for amendement and therefore, this is really surprising and upsetting as far as this creations take a long time to dessin. Regards, --SanchoPanzaXXI (talk) 21:25, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I asked him to delete it because I had problems doing it myself. The image is still available, but the name was corrected after the request of several users. You can find it now under Image:Coat of arms of Morocco.svg. Next time please name your uploads in a proper way. And please refrain from unfounded accusations as long as you don't know anything about something. Oh, and don't tell shit. You knew exactly that there was a problem, you even removed one of the warnings from the image. -- Cecil (talk) 21:33, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Although I have to admit, that my delete reason was a little imprecise. --Flominator (talk) 21:48, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, if you have clicked on the "Delete"-link in the duplicate-template, then it would have created a new deletion reason which tells where the image can be found now. But I replaced the image in all projects before I asked you so nobody should need that information anymore. -- Cecil (talk) 22:53, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
... except the uploader who wasn't involved in this process ;) --Flominator (talk) 14:52, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Flominator, thank you for your explanation, but still I don't see a convincent reason to did that. However, I see that nothing can be change back so let's go forward. Concerning some of Cecil commentaries, some are clearly impolite and I will repport this abuse.--SanchoPanzaXXI (talk) 22:26, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Technical problem with Image:Noe_biergarnitur_alt.jpg

[edit]

Hi. There seems to be something odd going on with Image:Noe_biergarnitur_alt.jpg: specifically, the file size and image dimensions recorded in the Commons database don't seem to match the actual file. This might be because someone — possibly you — uploaded a new version of it at some point, but due to a software bug the upload wasn't properly recorded as a new version, and ended up silently overwriting the original file instead. I'd appreciate it if you could check the image and reupload either the current version (to simply correct the database record) or whatever version you think should be there. Thanks in advance, and sorry to bother you with this. —Ilmari Karonen (talk) 22:05, 12 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Flinfo instructions

[edit]

Hello. About http://wikipedia.ramselehof.de/flinfo.php

Could you change the name of the "About" link to "Instructions"?

Also, can you add a link to "Flinfo live help"? Maybe to Commons:Help desk

Flinfo live help
Flinfo live help

This may solve most how-to problems I mentioned previously: MediaWiki talk:Uploadtext/fromflickr#Flinfo. --Timeshifter (talk) 12:21, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What about putting the live help link on the Flinfo page? I will try to change the button (and all translations). --Flominator (talk) 19:17, 9 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Changed it to "manual", I hope that's ok? --Flominator (talk) 19:58, 13 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I see that you are not a native English speaker. "Manual" means a book. It does not necessarily mean "instructions" to everybody. We don't want to scare people away by making it sound like they need to read a book. :) Maybe "Short instructions" would work. Maybe the live help link can go on the instructions page. I think it would be good to put the link on both pages. --Timeshifter (talk) 07:58, 17 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
What about "Help" instead of "instructions"? --Flominator (talk) 17:23, 18 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful informations about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

Hi Flominator. Recently the Official White House photostream on Flickr changed its license from CC-by to United States Government Work. This media was probably deleted.
A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:AEJ_Collins.jpg, was missing information about where it comes from or who created it, which is needed to verify its copyright status. The file probably has been deleted. If you've got all required information, request undeletion providing this information and the link to the concerned file (:File:AEJ_Collins.jpg).

If you created the content yourself, enter Own as the source. If you did not add a licensing template, you must add one. You may use, for example, GFDL or Cc-zero to release certain rights to your work.

If someone else created the content, or if it is based on someone else's work, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you!

Commonist licenses

[edit]

Dear Flominator,

As you might know Wikimedia is currently migrating from the GFDL to cc-by-sa-3.0. Wikimedia Commons is also migrating and we're down to less than 8000 files (started with about 1,8M files) . Unfortunatly this number keeps growing because Commonist contains outdated license templates. You appear to be running Commonist, could you please change the following lines in your license.txt?

GFDL should be changed to GFDL
GFDL should be changed to GFDL
cc-by-sa-2.5 should be changed to cc-by-sa-3.0

Can I also fix the images you have already uploaded by adding ?

Thank you very much, Multichill (talk) 11:54, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Multichill, file was changed. Yes, you can fix my images. Sorry for causing you work. --Flominator (talk) 12:00, 5 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Missing description page for File:Emmendingen Schlosserhaus 8628.jpg

[edit]

Hi, Flominator. It looks like the file File:Emmendingen Schlosserhaus 8628.jpg, which you uploaded last month, is missing it description page, including licensing information and categories. This is probably because of a known bug in the MediaWiki software which can sometimes cause the description page not to be created for newly uploaded files. Could you please try to recreate the missing description page? Thanks in advance. —Ilmari Karonen (talk) 22:13, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ps. It seems you also uploaded the very similar image File:Emmendingen Schlosserhaus 8630.jpg around the same time. If you in fact intended to upload both with the same description and licensing, you could just copy the description page from that image. —Ilmari Karonen (talk) 22:21, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Thanks. --Flominator (talk) 16:33, 20 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hallo Flominator.

Was meinst du dazu? --Tschaensky (talk) 19:24, 21 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

--Tschaensky (talk) 07:11, 23 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

We have a discussion about another category Commons:Categories_for_discussion/2009/10/Category:Drawers_or_draughtsmen_or_draftsmen#Category:Drawers_or_draughtsmen_or_draftsmen

Do you got any opinion or objection to renaming the actual Category:Drawers to Category:Drawers (furniture) or something similar?

File:Bunny in box.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Hello, Flominator/Attic!
Tip: Add categories to your files
Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Flinfo tool

[edit]

Some queries on its talk subpage please ;-) . . . it isn't working properly - thanks! MPF (talk) 21:37, 21 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks! - MPF (talk) 23:20, 22 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for pointing me to it. --Flominator (talk) 17:46, 25 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I fear another bug has sprung up . . . it strips all the carriage returns out now, leaving this:

40.563503====MPF

Of course it means that the license and other headers don't show properly until the cr's are put back. MPF (talk) 21:43, 25 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Is it better now? --Flominator (talk) 18:01, 27 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
'Fraid not, it is still stripping out carriage returns (i.e., no line spacing). Sorry for the slow reply, computer been down for the last few days - MPF (talk) 22:07, 4 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Where exactly? --Flominator (talk) 07:06, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
At the second stage, when I click on [Open upload form]. The line spacing is present before than, but gone in the new window that this opens. Just done a bit of checking - it seems to happen if I do any editing at all in the first stage (e.g. adding any text or a link or a category, or deleting an unwanted flickr-generated category). Hope this helps! - MPF (talk) 09:58, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Better now? --Flominator (talk) 18:52, 6 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, working fine now, thanks! - MPF (talk) 00:25, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Löschen von Bildern

[edit]

Hoi Floh Wenn du schon Bilder löscht, („File:HofkleidungMeersburg1.jpg“ gelöscht (the dolls are artists works and therefore copyrighted) dann informiere wenigstens den Benutzer der sie hochgeladen hat.

File:Limburg_Dom_Fenster.JPG has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Sorry

[edit]

I just created a subpage on your user page. I thought the Flinfo tool uploaded pictures directly from Flickr to the Commons. That's how I understood it from the message that was left on my talk page. I guess I understood wrong and now I know that it only fills out the Information. I placed a speedy deletion tag on the page so it should be gone soon. My mistake. //Gbern3 (talk) 20:12, 14 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. Thanks for mentioning it. --Flominator (talk) 20:15, 14 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hallo, Flominator,

Was meinst du?

Mach 's gut -- Aisano (talk) 21:19, 1 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Du auch. Vielleicht willst du ja trotzdem Marcela nochmal ansprechen. Gruß, --Flominator (talk) 07:14, 2 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

harpsichords in the Landesmuseum Württemberg Stuttgart

[edit]

Guten Abend Flominator !
I am interested in any picture of historical harpsichords in the European or American museums, they can be useful for pages such as fr:Clavecin or fr:Histoire du clavecin (a featured article in the French WP which I wrote almost entirely). So, this one could be useful, as well as others if they exist in this museum. If possible, indicate the builder and the year. Thanks a lot. Gérard Janot (talk) 19:58, 14 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful information about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

Also File:Baze 3.jpg uses Attribution but doesn't give an author to attribute to... I've used Copyrighted free use instead of PD in the files that were labelled PD - but Attribution may be correct, but then an author is needed. Judas cradle

[edit]
This one

Dear Flominator,

I am an assistant producer from Infocus Asia, a production house based in Singapore producing documentaries for networks all over the world. We are currently producing a documentary series for the National Geographic channel on urban legends and history of locations around Asia.

One of the stories I’m focusing on in my episode is the European inquisition. I was searching for archives/images of the inquisition torture and came across your image of torture devices on wikimedia of the Judas cradle - http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Fomfr_judas_cradle.jpg

I was wondering if you would be keen to let us use the image in our film? And if you would have more images of torture devices or the inquisition tortures? Our main character is an investigator of sorts, and he goes back in various scenes to a headquarters to check out a board of archives or webpage of information, where he sees strong images like the one you have which helps him in his investigations.

We won't be able to pay you for the images unfortunately, but we will definitely credit you in the endshow credits. The show airs on the Nat Geo Channel on all media and worldwide, which is great exposure.

Thank you, look forward to hearing from you.

Kindest regards, Candice (email removed)
