- David shalom, I am impressed by your work in photographing archeological sites, and would like to go with you to get more original photos for Wikipedia. How can I contact you directly? ניסן לברון (talk) 10:37, 26 May 2024 (UTC)

Unfortunately I've no official precise information yet but indeed there was no transfer from old to new university but rather an expansion was made in the new location due to the restrictions of the small zone allocated for old university. Old university was only for few colleges (Sciences, Literature mainly, as well as education, religion and law colleges that were later moved to the new location), and then new colleges such as commerce and economy colleges were initiated at the new location (that was later named as New University) around 1975 and then followed by additional faculties in engineering, medicine, agriculture, languages, and information. So you may consider 1975 as an approximate date for the new university while 1970 as the approximate date of old university which is still accommodating faculties of sciences and literature.
If you are interested about the dates, I will try to get information from the university administration, but not so sure if I can get such support, especially after the escalated unstable events ongoing around Yemen.
Note: I'm almost no longer using my old username, email4mobile, but this new one.--Almuhammedi (talk) 17:08, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you, Almuhammedi. Your reply was very helpful. I was curious because I once lived in Sana'a. - Davidbena (talk) 16:27, 16 October 2014 (UTC)

- It's been reopened, so you can get the copyright owner's permission verification. Once the permission has been sent, tag the image with {{OTRS pending}} (include the curly brackets). Good luck. Ww2censor (talk) 22:53, 24 June 2017 (UTC)

File tagging File:Kubaneh - Yemenite.jpg
[edit]This media was probably deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading File:Kubaneh - Yemenite.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT ([email protected]). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Kubaneh - Yemenite.jpg]] ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

The woman, here in Israel, who gave to me the photo for uploading on Wikipedia is named Sharona Subeiri. If you wish, I can send to her the "permissions form" to fill out and send by mail to: [email protected]. She has already expressed to me that she is willing to have it posted on Wikipedia.Davidbena (talk) 04:14, 20 October 2017 (UTC)

Autopatrol given
[edit]Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. ~riley (talk) 05:25, 25 March 2020 (UTC)

Great images
[edit]You have added some very good images from Israel and about Jewish culture! They will make a great addition to many articles. Thank you! --Chefallen (talk) 15:14, 23 July 2020 (UTC)

Love your pics!
[edit]Love how you love your beautiful, historic country and would love to go on a hike with you in Israel! Can you please help categorizing and translating archeological pictures in Category:City of David? There are several sites I’m not familiar with. Raquel Baranow (talk) 01:49, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, I can do that for you when I find the time. Happy that you like the photographs taken by me yesterday.Davidbena (talk) 03:17, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
- Wow, what a coincidence, I didn’t even notice that you uploaded new pics of the City of David. Note there is a Category:The House of the Bullae and for Category:House of Ahiel, which may be the same thing, located adjacent to the Category:Stepped Stone Structure. I’m still learning about categorizing pictures. If there is a specific catagory, then the picture should not also be in the parent category, see COM:OVERCAT. But if the subcategory is not indexed in the parent category, add the subcategory to it.
- I’m very interested in these City of David excavations because I expect major discovery there regarding the Temple location. I’m not too familiar with the excavations near the Givati Parking Lot where the City of David’s Visitor Center once stood. Best Wishes! Raquel Baranow (talk) 16:40, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
- Okay. That makes sense. If there is a parent category and a sub-category, I will do my best to list the image in its sub-category. As for the location of the First and Second Temple, 2nd-century Jewish sources clearly state its position on the Temple Mount, which is also called nowadays in the Arabic language as Haram esh-Sharif.Davidbena (talk) 18:08, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
- Right, we discussed this on Wikipedia, from which I’m blocked over something really stupid and wrong. (Plan to appeal block soon.) The two current articles about it en:Temple denial and en:Antonia fortress are very one-sided. One of the opposing “fringe” theorists, Marilyn Sams, referenced in the WP article, “Temple denial,” makes some very good points that are ridiculed in the talk page there regarding Josephus saying Antonia “dominated” the Temple and was connected by two bridges, read he report here see her other reports on the subject too here. When you look at the geography of the City of David, you see how strategic the ridge is for defense and how far the Temple Mount was from the en:Gihon spring, like where did the priests purify themselves and then walk back up the Temple Mount? Marilyn Sams makes many good points like this on her website. Raquel Baranow (talk) 18:39, 2 August 2021 (UTC) Best Wishes

Direct link for your Bullae photo
[edit]Hi, I found a direct link with much more info about your Bullae photo: here, thought it best you add it somewhere. Great photo and documentation! Raquel Baranow (talk) 19:37, 2 August 2021 (UTC) See also: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nathan-melech another place to post this photo. Raquel Baranow (talk) 20:01, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
- Hi, Raquel. The information presently listed on the Wikimedia-Commons' page for the bulla comes from the same "City of David" Visitor Center. In fact, they gave Wikimedia-Commons their permission to make use of the image. Everything is there in the description.Davidbena (talk) 20:12, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
Question
[edit]Hello Davidbena,
I don't quite get this, maybe you could have a look. It seems that you questioned the file source back in 2019, but I cannot find any such process in the file history, and except for a bot edit, no changes have been made in terms of copyright. There is no indication of a VRT correspondence or of the uploader being the copyright holder.
Worse, there is no mention of personality rights issues. I would consider prayer to be a very intimate situation; I would not want to be photographed when praying. This woman has her eyes closed, she may not even have been aware she was being photographed. Is she o.k. with having her image published all over the world? I wonder. Thanks, --87.150.2.123 12:51, 31 October 2022 (UTC)
- That's a very good question. Since I did not upload that image, and since I do not know the woman personally, I have no way of knowing. If there is a question about copyright issues, that is valid grounds enough to have the image removed. As for the woman's awareness or unawareness about her photograph being published on Wikipedia, if this is a criterion that can be used against the image, one would have to check with Wikimedia Commons policy on images uploaded to their site.Davidbena (talk) 14:10, 31 October 2022 (UTC)
