Loactor maps for Sudan
[edit]hi Bkell ... i have seen your Loactor maps for Sudan Cities ... can you add the federal-state-borders, so it is difficult to sort a city to a federal-state? Sven-steffen arndt 17:17, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
- i've thought about it ... better leave it simpel ... cheers Sven-steffen arndt 21:05, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
- see my discussion ... Sven-steffen arndt 14:30, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
- sorry, but you have to clear the triangles (Halaib, Ilemi) out of the territory of sudan ... so your maps are wrong, see en:Hala'ib Triangle and en:Ilemi Triangle ... cheers Sven-steffen arndt 11:31, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
- i have created Image:Meroe locator map.svg to show the right borderline ... Sven-steffen arndt 17:25, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

Watermark Image:Adler fg01.jpg
[edit]Please explain the procedure. I have to change the images or use a former version without watermark. Next I have to open the Commons webpage with the demanded image, using the link "Eine neue Version dieser Datei hochladen" (Downloading a new version of this data file) under "File History". The template box "This image contains digital watermarking or credits ..." suggests to replace itself by the following term: "superseded|Image:Mount Everest - no watermark.jpg|image without watermarks". Now I got your note "an image cannot be superseded by itself". What does it mean? I know that Wikipedia Commons isn't able to offer an easy instruction book for all cases, but more common actions should be explained for newcomers. Thank you very much. --Dysmachus 09:57, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
Good work on activation energy diagram
[edit]Bkell, good work on making that activation energy diagram, I was about to start working to make one today, but then when I checked the status of the activation energy page I saw yours. Nice work! --4.158.78.91 23:18, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
Image:Resolution chart.svg
[edit]Hi Bkell, thanks for your help with the Image:Resolution chart.svg file. The text looks much better now.
I've noticed a mistake I made in the original, but since I can't edit .svg, I wonder if you could fix it for me. The cyan box that says "Broadcast NTSC" is too small horizontally: The number above it should be 475, not 440. Just that one line needs to be moved a few pixels to the right. Thanks! Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 05:41, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

JPG -> PNG
[edit]There is currently a bot in development to convert JPG files into PNG files automatically if appropriate. The code is not finished yet and we need the file history for referenze possibly. Therefore I reverted your edit. https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=File%3AOMSYMBOL.jpg&diff=92213176&oldid=92141466 . I hope this is ok. I will try to keep in mind to inform you as soon as the bot is ready to run. --McZusatz (talk) 11:04, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
- I see. I didn't understand why the template had been commented out, but now I know. Thanks for the explanation. —Bkell (talk) 11:46, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
Autopatrol given
[edit]Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. --McZusatz (talk) 11:04, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
- Okay, thanks. —Bkell (talk) 11:45, 8 March 2013 (UTC)
Congratulations, Dear Reviewer
[edit]Hi Bkell, thanks for your application to be an image reviewer. The application has been removed as successful, and you've been added to the list of reviewers. You can review all kind of image licenses on Commons. Please see Commons:License review and Commons:Flickr files if you haven't done so already. We also have a guide how to detect copyright violations. Backlogs include Flickr review, Picasa review, Panoramio review, and files from other sources. You can use one of the following scripts by adding one of the lines to your common.js:
- importScript('User:ZooFari/licensereviewer.js'); // stable script for reviewing images from any kind of source OR
- importScript('User:Rillke/LicenseReview.js'); // contains also user notification when review fails, auto blacklist-check and auto-thank you message for Flickr-reviews.
You can also add User reviewer or User trusted to your user page if you wish. Thank you for your contributions on Commons!
Please use the tool with care. Good work.--Steinsplitter (talk) 19:45, 18 March 2013 (UTC)
OTRS permissions queues
[edit]Hello Bkell. You are receiving this message as a license reviewer. As you know, OTRS processes a large amount of tickets relating to image releases (called "permissions"). As a license reviewer, you may have the skills necessary to contribute to this team. If you are interested in learning more about OTRS or to volunteer please visit Meta-Wiki. Tell your friends! Thank you. Rjd0060 18:31, 1 March 2015 (UTC)
File:Fritos article covered by giant checkbox.png has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added may soon be deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please replace the copyvio tag with and have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you disagree that the file is a copyright violation for any other reason, please replace the copyvio tag with a regular deletion request.
