Source of derivative work is not properly indicated: File:NGSDub.jpg
[edit]This file may be deleted. |
A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:NGSDub.jpg, is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such works would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a map that has been altered from the original. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.
While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. Please edit the file description and add the missing information, or the file may be deleted. If you created the original content yourself, enter this information as the source. If someone else created the content, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you! |

File:Ranelagh 2.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

Hello BaronNethercross
On File:BrayWM.jpg the source of the second image is wrong, these are not the boats used in the collage. Please fix that to provide the appropriate source.

49357968491 images
[edit]Hello BaronNethercross
The following images use 49357968491 as the source:
- File:Marino_Crescent_3.jpg
- File:Clontarf_shoreline.jpg
- File:Killester,_Dublin_3.jpg
- File:Killester,_Dublin.jpg
- File:Rathmines_Road.jpg
- File:A_view_along_the_Royal_Canal_from_Newcomen_Bridge.jpg
- File:The_Five_Lamps,_North_Strand.jpg
- File:Jones's_Road,_Clonliffe.jpg
However, only the first matches. The others need to be fixed to point to the right original image.
Platonides (talk) 20:26, 12 August 2022 (UTC)
- All fixed. Thanks for flagging these. BaronNethercross (talk) 22:19, 12 August 2022 (UTC)
- All reviewed! Thanks so much. Platonides (talk) 23:04, 22 August 2022 (UTC)
About your collages
[edit]Hello BaronNethercross
You have a good number of collages directly from flickr images. I would encourage you to first import them into Commons (using something like flickr2commons, the ones you have uploaded seem not to have been detected automatically), so that the original files are available here and not just the collage. And then upload the collage pointing at the original ones here with {{Derived from}} Platonides (talk) 20:45, 12 August 2022 (UTC)
- Sounds like a good idea. Thanks! BaronNethercross (talk) 22:26, 12 August 2022 (UTC)
Hello Baron
On File:Dublin D1.jpg you mention File:Dublin_The_Convention_Centre_01.jpg as the source for the second image, but it does not exist (nor seems we ever had a file with that name). Could you search the right title?
Regards
Platonides (talk) 21:15, 12 August 2022 (UTC)
- Done! Thanks for the flag. BaronNethercross (talk) 21:55, 12 August 2022 (UTC)
- Indeed. Thanks! Platonides (talk) 22:42, 22 August 2022 (UTC)
Hello Baron
Another image with wrong flickr source url: File:Clonturk House 2.jpg
Platonides (talk) 21:18, 12 August 2022 (UTC)
- Done! Thanks BaronNethercross (talk) 21:54, 12 August 2022 (UTC)
- Great. Reviewed. Platonides (talk) 22:36, 22 August 2022 (UTC)
More issues:
File:Cabra Park, Phibsborough.jpg gives as source the wrong [1] and File:PhibsMurphy.jpg repeats a link, missing the source for the first image.
Platonides (talk) 21:59, 12 August 2022 (UTC)
- File:Cabra Park, Phibsborough.jpg is fixed, but File:PhibsMurphy.jpg still misses the source for the first image ([2] is given twice). Platonides (talk) 22:40, 22 August 2022 (UTC)
Settlement Collages
[edit]Hi, I see you've been creating some collages and adding them to settlement articles on the English Wikipedia. I noticed Harcourt Street on 4 August 2022 and Ranelagh today on the English Wikipedia. I observed you were not using the en:Template:Photomontage technique as used at en:Chichester, though one good reason is that template is not currently supported on Vicipéid. My alternate account User:Deirge Ó Dhaoinebeaga is attempting to see if someone will rectify that, see ga:Vicipéid:Lárionad comhphobail#Teimpléad:Photo montage. My first worry with the Harcourt Street collage was possibly an undue use of tram images in the collage (that is a subjective opinion) and my main concern was you might be a person who was going to push images of trains/trams into many settlement pages ... a review of your history thankfully confirmed that was most unlikely to be the case. However I did begin to gather images to Commons for a possible alternative collage for Harcourt Street, and in particular I subjectively considered that File:DOORS OF DUBLIN - HARCOURT STREET - 2557814992 (cropped).jpg and File:The Real Streets Of Dublin - 2855254349.jpg might be better substitutes for the images in File:Harcourt Street, Dublin D02.jpg (where I still feel there is too much tram in the bottom right picture). Anyway just leaving you with food for thought this time. Certainly I may be asking centrally or at a meetup that it would be better for collages if all the component images should be brought to commons, and possibly considering the advantages and disadvantages of the use of {{Photo montage}} for collages on target Wiki's. One other point I personally would suggest a change of an image is never really a en:WP:MINOR on the English Wikipedia. In all events keep up the good work with the collages, I'm a little sorry I didn't bring this up soon after August 4 but I became distracted, apologies. And this is only my personal views, other may think different and I could easily be interpreting guidelines and even policy incorrectly. Thankyou. -- Djm-leighpark (talk) 22:26, 19 August 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks! With en:Template:Photomontage it is not always possible to crop images so that they fit into a collage that provides the most visual information in the most efficient space. But feel free to tweak them or change them if you wish. All the best. BaronNethercross (talk) 10:46, 22 August 2022 (UTC)
- Thankyou for the response. I actually meant to mention yesterday that I, (as (Deirge) attempted a Photomontage at ga:Special:Diff/1085292 and intended to report the result back here. I might or might not have been able to fix the montage but the priority turned into improving that article! Thankyou. Djm-leighpark (talk) 12:03, 22 August 2022 (UTC)

The Flickr review bot doesn't like scaled down or cropped images. For freely-licensed Flickr photos, you might try the Flickr2Commons tool, which faithfully transfers the original size image, as well as all metadata (dates, coordinates, EXIF camera data, etc.). Cheers, ----Animalparty (talk) 23:18, 25 September 2022 (UTC)
The photo shows Cliff Castle on Coliemore Road, Dalkey, Ireland. This is NOT a photo of Manderley Castle. Please re-upload with the correct filename and description, or delete it. Candace66 (talk) 19:36, 11 March 2023 (UTC)
