File uploaded after the deadline
[edit]Hi, you got a lot of finalists in Greece but this file was uploaded few minutes after the UTC deadline, so it was not categorized under Greece and it ended up in the "rest of the world" category. Dear Annatsach,
Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2017 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the twelfth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2017) to produce a single Picture of the Year.
Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.
There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. In Round 1, there were 1475 candidate images. There are 58 finalists in Round 2, comprised of the top 30 overall as well as the top 2 from each sub-category.
In the final round, you may vote for a maximum of three images. The image with the most votes will become the Picture of the Year 2017.
Round 2 will end on 22 July 2018, 23:59 UTC.

Wiki Science Competition 2019

Dear uploader of European Science Photo Competition 2015 and Wiki Science Competition 2017, we would like to remind you that Wiki Science Competition 2019 has started in the whole world. It is now completed in Russia (active in May), Ukraine and France (active during November), but it's still open in all the other countries.
If you want to take part where WSC2019 is still open, please consult this page. There is also an international upload category with no national prize.
If you are an expert user, please consider that images uploaded within the deadline can be included in any case in the [[:c::Category:Images from Wiki Science Competition 2019 by country|national categories]] even if not uploaded with the main interface.
Please keep in mind that there is a new category this year, i.e. "nature and wildlife".
If you already took part in a country that has completed its upload phase please consider improving the description in English of your files (click on the edit button), since such description is what the international jury will use to evaluate such files at next step. World finalists will be finalized after March 2020.

- Just saw this response. Not the wrong place. Talk page communication can be slightly awkward due to the wiki formatting necessary. Best is to indent one more than the comment above using colons (so ::: under this), notify the person you're responding to by linking to their user page (using [[User:Rhododendrites]] or {{ping|Rhododendrites}}), and add your signature to the end of the comment with four tildes ~~~~ which automatically adds your name and timestamp. If you link to my page and sign your post, I get a little notification saying "Annatsach mentioned you". Thanks for your photo challenge participation. I have assumed Greece from its entry in the Wiki Science Competition 2017 in Greece competition, but a little more detail (where in Greece!) would make the photo more useful.
