Full of every possible piece of fascist/hate imagery imaginable (Nazis, Apartheid, Confederate States, KKK, Imperial Japan, Fascist Italy, Francoist Spain, Rhodesia); evidence at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Catfish_Jim_and_the_soapdish#Not_going_to_ask_you is extremely damning and removes all possibility of good faith Dronebogus (talk) 13:34, 11 April 2023 (UTC)
- Delete as per nom. Yann (talk) 16:48, 11 April 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose for now, Commons don't have any rule against galleries with historically disputable images (such as nazi etc. images here). Also COM:CENSORSHIP states However, Commons is not censored, and legitimately includes content which some users may consider objectionable or offensive. The policy of "Commons is not censored" means that a lawfully-hosted file, which falls within Commons' definitions of scope, will not be deleted solely on the grounds that it may not be "child-friendly" or that it may cause offence to you or others, for moral, personal, religious, social, or other reasons. Forementioned applies to every userspace as no restrictions were placed in the policy. Also no harmful or other hate alike content is in the gallery. As every community is idependent itself, I wouldn't delete this page because of wrongdoings of this user on enwiki. Was gallery used in crosswiki spam etc.? A09 (talk) 14:11, 12 April 2023 (UTC)
- “No harmful or hate alike [sic] content”? The page is peppered with white supremacist imagery and the link above discusses the user’s apparent connections to Stormfront and the KKK! Dronebogus (talk) 18:36, 12 April 2023 (UTC)
- Maybe I would need to clarify: if it weren’t a hate speech or similara acts of violence against WMF editors, otherwise no. If this gallery is deleted we should also delete every other nazi/KKK whatever picture. A09 (talk) 06:27, 13 April 2023 (UTC)
- That is the question: How is favorite meant here? Does it mean the user likes the files for the quality or because the user likes the content? GPSLeo (talk) 10:31, 13 April 2023 (UTC)
- Your question is pretty much pointless as your statement is not a valid reason for deletion. A09 (talk) 10:35, 13 April 2023 (UTC)
- We do not have a specific rule for this because supporting racism, genocides and war crimes is against the general m:Terms of use. GPSLeo (talk) 11:15, 13 April 2023 (UTC)
- Per your logic, all categories of controversial organizations should be deleted, which I would also oppose. I don't see how this gallery supports racism and war crimes. IMO including a Third Reich flag in your gallery only to be marked as racism is a bit of a stretch. Gallery does not contain any image depicting war crimes (ie. Nanking massacre), but just persons themselves.
- Also per m:Terms of Use, please see article 3 paragraph a): "Because we provide a wide array of content that is produced or gathered by fellow users, you may encounter material that you find offensive, erroneous, misleading, mislabeled, or otherwise objectionable", which does not prohibit any such gallery and is similar to COM:CENSORSHIP. - I am not against having such files on Commons or in galleries. The problem is the "favorite" in the name. The relevant question is: What does "favorite" mean in this case? Does it mean, "I like the organization" oder does it mean "I like the file to illustrate the topic". GPSLeo (talk) 14:49, 13 April 2023 (UTC)
- Why did we then even open this DR? Wouldn't be a move discussion much better? IMO filename is okay (whatever the reason may be). A09 (talk) 17:31, 13 April 2023 (UTC)
- This is missing the point. Based on what I mentioned above the user probably is actually supportive of these ideologies. Dronebogus (talk) 18:53, 13 April 2023 (UTC)
- His political orientation plays no role in this DR to be honest. I don't see it as a valid reason to delete the gallery unless a strong pattern of him using this page as an attack page appears (but still probably very unlikely as gallery doesn't contain any images of actual war crimes).
