Commons:Deletion requests/File:1984first.jpg
It looks like this image was discussed in 2011 with consensus not to import to Commons but it was imported anyway in 2021 by a now-blocked user. Unclear whether the current PD license applies based on its country of first publication. czar 05:38, 17 February 2023 (UTC)

- Pinging those with file history @Magog the Ogre @Bensin @Illegitimate Barrister @Realmaxxver @CactiStaccingCrane @Klow @Nagualdesign @AtomicMario
- If deleted from Commons but PD in the US, it should be restored under that license to enwiki. czar 05:44, 17 February 2023 (UTC)
- Clearly OK in the U.S., below U.S. TOO. I don't know enough about UK TOO to say confidently what its status is there, but I suspect it's a problem. - Jmabel ! talk 05:51, 17 February 2023 (UTC)
- I would agree with that assessment. Powers (talk) 21:03, 17 February 2023 (UTC)
- It's a different image than the one discussed all that time ago; that makes clear it was just solid colors. Fine for the US; it's the harder question of the UK. Apparently designed by Michael Kennard; no idea about his life dates. The US edition had a different cover so not simultaneously published. Carl Lindberg (talk) 06:47, 17 February 2023 (UTC)
- The discussion appears to me to have been about the green cover which is in the version history here on Commons (the first and third images chronologically). Powers (talk) 21:03, 17 February 2023 (UTC)
Deleted: Per nomination and COM:United Kingdom. The level of originality required for copyright protection in the United Kingdom is very low. . To determine whether a design is below TOO is always a bit subjective. Imho this image shows a creative effort of the designer. Designed by M. Kennard; I cannot find anything about his life. So duration of copyright is unknown. Therefore I decided to delete the file. Can be undeleted in 1949+121= 2070. --Ellywa (talk) 22:11, 28 August 2023 (UTC)
