English: The Essex Sub-Station, also known as Substation 401, is a historic electrical substation located at 3046 Fulton Street east of the Cleveland Street Elevated Railway Station of the BMT Jamaica Line, in the Cypress Hills neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York City. It was constructed by the Brooklyn Rapid Transit Company in 1901 for what was originally an extension of the BMT Lexington Avenue Line, and given a mid-century modern extension by the New York City Transit Authority.
