English: The Queen Victoria Building is a heritage-listed building located in the heart of the Sydney central business district. Its elaborate Federation Romanesque Revival architecture presents a contrast to the modern buildings that surround it. 190 metres long by 30 meters wide, it is the only building in Sydney that fills an entire city block, bounded by George, Market, York and Druitt Streets. Long derelict, it was threatened with demolition in 1959. Restored between 1984 and 1986 by Ipoh Ltd under the terms of a 99-year lease from the Sydney City Council, it is now home to a wide variety of boutiques and "brand-name" shops.
