Goree, named after an island in Senegal connected to the slave trade, was the site of warehouses for incoming goods, but not slaves, since it was constructed after the slave trade had been abolished in the United Kingdom. It runs parallel to The Strand, Liverpool forming the northbound lane of the dock road at that point.
