George Mearns Savery was an educationalist. From around 1890 he was headmaster of the former Harrogate College (for boys), which he sold or passed on after his retirement in 1899, and it was renamed as Clifton House School. Another Harrogate College (for boys) was founded after his retirement. He is remembered for founding Harrogate Ladies' College. All the above private schools were in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England; only the ladies' college still exists.
