Example of a black ticked tabby cat.
English: In brown/black ticked coats the hair shafts have alternating brown/black pigmented and paler bands. The tips of each hair are always brown/black pigmented. This pattern is most often seen in cats from Asia or Africa. There is almost no striping except possibly for thin stripes on the legs, face and tail. Instead, only the agouti pattern can be seen, giving a "ticked" effect. There is darker unclear tabby pattern on the forehead, which can even be a big dot. Sometimes a darker dorsal stripe can be observed along the spine. The colour is also called black, seal (in pointed cats), brown (in BUR), ruddy (in ABY and SOM), tawny (in OCI).
