Hello, Pic-Sou!

Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

SVP, before creating new icons, please check the catalogue and sub-pages to ensure that they do not already exist. Merçi. Useddenim (talk) 14:37, 17 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for providing images to Wikimedia Commons. Please keep in mind that images and other files on Commons must be under a free license and should be useful to the Wikimedia projects. To allow others to use your files, some additional information must be given on the description page. Most importantly:
  • Describe what it is about in a short sentence. (What does the image show?)
  • State the author and the date of creation. If you made it yourself, say so explicitly. If it is from another Wikimedia user, link to the person's local user page. Best to use CommonsHelper.
  • If you did not create the file yourself, state the source you got it from.
  • Add a copyright tag - images without an appropriate license tag will be deleted.
  • Add the image to one or more gallery pages and/or appropriate categories, so it can be found by others. To find out where an image belongs, you can use CommonsSense.

If you copied the file from another wiki, please copy all information given there and say who uploaded it to that wiki. Use CommonsHelper.

It is recommended to use Template:Information to put that information on the description page. Have a look at Template talk:Information for details of the use of this template.

You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file.

Please add as much information as possible. If there is not sufficient information, the file may have to be deleted. For more information, follow the Commons:First steps guide. If you need help or have questions, please ask at the Help desk.

Thank you.

This message was added automatically by Nikbot, if you need some help about it, please read the text above again and follow the links in it,if you still need help ask at the   ->Commons:Help desk in any language you like to use. --Nikbot 08:56, 18 June 2011 (UTC)

What makes this version better? Useddenim (talk) 20:42, 23 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

The turn is now as thick as the straight lines. --Pic-Sou (talk) 20:46, 23 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
There's a reason the icon was drawn the way it was: so that the turn would be clear. (Many of the crossing + junction icons are deliberately drawn that way. This may be the most extreme example:  .) Useddenim (talk) 21:53, 23 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
OK. I see you reverted. But why are these icons drawn that way ? --Pic-Sou (talk) 08:20, 25 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
Narrower lines are used within complicated icons so it is possible to see all the paths.   and   are some other examples. Useddenim (talk) 12:01, 25 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
The width of a track is 100px that's why I'd go for the alternative design! Those thin lines are to "fragile". a×pdeHello! 16:01, 15 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
Excuse me, I don't understand (my english is not very well...). Will you create new icons with 100px tracks ? --Pic-Sou (talk) 17:21, 15 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
Actually, I favour the look of your version. Nevertheless your svg-file is far to big for such a tiny icon ;-) a×pdeHello! 17:28, 15 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

That wording would normally be taken to indicate white at far left and far right (i.e. 13 stripes, not 11)... AnonMoos (talk) 16:09, 18 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Yes, you are right. I will fix it as soon as possible.
Pic-Sou (talk) 16:13, 18 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
It seems to be OK. --Pic-Sou (talk) 21:08, 18 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

It seems to match the description now. It only struck me because I once made File:Bosk-Port-Kar-ship-flag-Norman-Gor.svg ... -- AnonMoos (talk) 23:10, 18 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Matsa1995 : Images en violation des droits d'auteur

edit

Salut,

L'utilisateur Matsa1995, dont t'a déjà viré des fichier qu'il a importé, en a rien à faire du droit d'auteur et a encore frappé :

Un logo de Tout le monde veut prendre sa place, qu'il s'attribue en "Travail personnel" et qui ne sert à rien car un logo de meilleure qualité existe ;

A Plus
